FAA to Close 149 U.S. Airport Towers After Budget Cuts. The U.S. will close 149 air-traffic control towers run by contractors at small- and mid-sized airports beginning on April 7 as a result of automatic budget cuts at government agencies.

The Federal Aviation Administration spared 24 towers on its original list of 173 subject to closing, it said in an e-mail today. All towers being shut down are run by private companies, not the government as at larger facilities. Another 16 private towers will face 5 percent cuts.

“Unfortunately we are faced with a series of difficult choices that we have to make to reach the required cuts under sequestration, safety will suffer but we will do the best with what we have.” Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said in an e-mailed statement.

This is an indication as to how much Republicans just don't care anything about the American people, decency, democracy, honesty, honor, or anything else. All they care about are their two agendas; tax cuts for the wealthy and repeal of all social programs. They have been willing to state any lie and co-opt any the vilest of all Americans, bigots, racists, and reactionary religious fundamentalists to achieve these goals. They in fact care nothing about deficits or debts, they are simply dishonest ploys to justify their two main agendas.

I hear you brother, they're willing to risk the safety of Americans so their rich friends can keep all their tax exclusions. Any blood spilt will be on their hands and trust me Americans will rise up and hold the necons responsible.

Wrong I love my Country and feel we should do everything we can to keep our current government in power, you are the one that wants to destroy it and there are many of us who will not allow that to happen.

There is nothing illegal about doing what ever we can as citizens to insure the best leader for our country is elected, to do anything other than that is stupid and bordering on insanity. We all need to do what is right not what someone tells us is right.
