Fendry, a former police officer, said that he tells citizens, "You're not armed to be law enforcement. You're armed to protect your own life and the lives of your family until law enforcement arrives. Do not go on search and destroy missions in your home."

Wrong. There has never been a case of a law abiding citizen shooting a police officer...never. The police would be much safer if law abiding citizens could shot back at the bad guys and take a few of them off of the streets. Hell if every law abiding citizen could shoot back the bad guys would be out numbered and soon would be forced to move back to the liberal cities where guns for good guys are banned.

Actually the Sheriff was simply recognizing the factual information developed from response time statistics for the past year for the local police. Those show that you are, essentially, on your own.

I don't remember the exact times but the response time for a 911 call involving a burglary or a rape were both in the range of 30 minutes.

That's the entire point - people think, have been taught by liberals, that cops are there to protect them, that cops can magically appear when called to stop the rape, attack, assault, break-in, etc.... it's just not true, and their first job, when arriving, is to make sure that THEY, the COPS, are safe.

Personal safety has always been about you being able to protect yourself, not waiting on someone to come write a report. Remember, Cops respond in 11:35 minutes, a 9mm responds at 1135 fps.

Police carry guns to PROTECT THEMSELVES, that is the bottom line and an ugly fact people don't want to acknowledge.

Unless and until every other person is a law enforcement officer, you have the right and the duty to protect yourself and your loved ones, period, end of discussion.

If for one second you think law enforcement is to protect you and your loved ones, you are wrong and will be dead minutes before law enforcement arrives.

Absolutely true! 99% of the time police arrive to document what happened, the perps are long gone. Ask any police officer and they'll tell you, at home they keep a gun with a round chambered and ready to go, the 911 call they make for help will be after they've take care of businesses.

People have this false sense of security that a phone is all they need for protection, that if they can dial 911 before the bad guy gets to them, all will be well. Every law abiding citizen needs a gun, they need to know how to use it and they need to understand how to keep it ready to rock and roll while at the same time be mindful of keeping it away from children. They now make gunvaults that open in 2 seconds, you should have a round chambered and safety off (better yet by a gun without a safety, they can foul you up in panic) when you put it in the vault.
