This forum has been up for awhile and it looks like no one has even registered.

Yesterday VW was hacked and disabled, but the BBs were working fine. Many of us went there trying to find out and discuss what happened. It might have been better to keep those going if VW wants to convince people not to defect to Igor's new site (which at least does have a more viable looking BB than this).

For our part, we are deeply suspicious of the other site, since it has hijacked a lot of content that people contributed specifically to VW/RC/HC on the understanding that it was copyright protected, and they have relabeled it as their content and posted it illegally. We don't know whether our videos were stolen, but this kind of thing seems very unlike Igor (who has always been ethical in regards to contributor copyright), or maybe it indicates that Igor has gone off his rocker. Of course, we don't know what the internal disputes were that led to this schism -- Igor is entirely unspecific about those on the new site. Also, none of the other supposed "refugees" from among longtime VW folks is piping up over there to explain why this has happened.

Oh, and there is something fishy about converting your RC/HC membership on the other site -- you have to check a box agreeing to "Terms and Conditions" without being able to see what the terms and conditions are. If you are a contributor, you might be agreeing retroactively to the theft of your material.

Just our thoughts on this very confusing situation.

Grandpa found that he could read the BB's yesterday but could not post anything to any of them. And none of the Profiles could be accessed. Today, of course, all things are changing and the entire BB is new. It would be nice if at some point soon they could put back the old BB's and reactivate them.

I have read all about the hijacking & crashing of both VW & RC. And while I am no expert, I do know one thing. In the end I will somehow be blamed for all of it. LOL

Hi all, Dax here. I've seen some members say they can access the BB's, and I can't. Where are you finding the BB's listings...?

Like many others, I have been here for a long time. I recall when the house in florida
first came on line, it seems like ages ago.

Also like others, I was always under the impression that this was Igor's brainchild, which
begs the question, why were we all mislead for so long?

Never been too much of a commentator but have been a religious lurker, who is now
in withdrawals. Sure hope this mess gets straightened out soon, my guess is that
the BBS is most important to many. :cry:

Dax, If you have the BB system on your hard drive history you can acess it. However all the threads are frozen at 9:06 An Saturday June 9th.

Well, let's face it, it probably is your fault somehow.

We've been members for over 10 years and even though I'm just a lurker these days I was surprised to see everything gone......Hope it's all worked out soon...

Can you post the address that shows up when you pull up the BB system in that manner? I would like to read what was being said before the system was frozen on Saturday.

I admit, I am totally confused by all this crap. The fact that it happened on the very day I was about to re-up my subscription just makes me even more so.
So on one hand, we have someone who goes by the name of Igor, telling us that his vision of what the site us supposed to be is no longer served by the VW model, and that he happens to have a new (and presumably better) site up. On the other hand, the post on VW says that all will be returned to normal soon -- and BTW, while all this is going on, the servers are undergoing maintenance. Did that mean that the whole VW/Redclouds system was about to go into a hiatus anyway, or that someone decided that the recent upheaval and the fact that everyone is screwed anyway (at least for the time being) and that made this a convenient time to do the maintenance?
I have seen comments on there are approx 1 million RC members. If that is true, at $26 annually a pop, we are talking about a shedload on money. I have been a member for a long time (a decade, I reckon) and I like the online society that I was involved with. I am not sure which direction that means I should head, and I welcome advice. Advice; a sales pitch, I can do without.

I'm surprised it's even taken this long to get anything up. As a web developer, if something were to go down, I'd be tasked to work day & night to get it back up, especially if it's a money maker or big client.

This seems like the perfect opportunity for somebody to snatch away VW's audience. Tempted.
