Collapse of the Voting System?

I just saw that all ratings went up for the last 12 hours with 0,06-0,07 on average.The problem is that this increase was not the same for all contributions.It varied from 0,02 per contribution to almost 0,15 My contri was on top of the ranks 12 hours ago with 4,64, the second in the line was 4,60.Here is the situation now-my contri is 4,66 (0,02 increase) and the contri which was second,now is on top with 4,74??(0,14 increase) The contri that added 0,14 was online for more than 3 days and it has generated already more than 90% of the votes.Given that such fluctuations are very unlikely to happen.Here are more examples-the contri on top of Nude in Public added 0,06 overnight and the second contri in the same section added 0,08...etc Can you explain what happened with the voting system?

I've always thought the voting system was a bit dodgy. It seems to me it fails to account for how some, perhaps many, use the system.

I browse via the preview (PV) and, because you can only vote in the Fullsize (view) only ever vote on the few contributions I opt to view in Fullsize. I've always wondered whether a single high rating for a poor contribution outweighs several good (but lower) votes for a better contrib.

Wonder whether it would be better to tally the number of "Fullsize" views or somehow weight the voting to account for what I suspect is not an uncommon usage pattern.

Just my 2 cents. Sorry to 'jack your thread'.

So whatever happened with those December scores, #contributor?

There were similar weird scoring gyrations at the end of October, and no real answers about what was going on. It was discussed on the other BB, behind the paywall: http://exbb.redclouds.com/showthread.ph ... ds-contest" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The explanation was that they were running scripts to weed out vote manipulation, which of course they should, but if those scripts are run several times a day they wouldn't produce huge jumps in scores of contris that are not newly posted, as you describe, or as happened in the last days of October.

Personally, I do not trust the scoring after what I saw, and it is one reason we aren't posting on this site at present.

Contributor - Please check your email, as we have been corresponding there, but I will post the general gist of it here as well: The team did triple check the scores manually on each and every contribution of December Winners to ensure we did not miss anything (which is why it took a few days more than normal for the winner's emails to go out) in addition to running the program our tech guys developed - which detects any clear and purposeful up/down voting and alerts us to any discrepancies which indicates illegal voting. However, the team did not find anything that would indicate any sort of voting manipulation.

ScottSacCa - If you only see the overview, you will only see very small photos which makes it very difficult to give a fair vote to the photos and in turn the contributor, but I do understand your point. Everyone's opinions and ideas are welcomed, always feel free to chime in!

RR - Missed you on here for awhile ;) hope you and yours had a happy holiday. I am sorry that you two are not posting at present (wouldn't mind seeing a contribution or two of you both), but I can say that as far a voting goes we are doing everything we can to ensure there is zero score manipulation by anyone (see above for a bit more detail).

I could not understand how a contri behind mine in the competition succeeded to jump from 4,60 to 4,74 overnight.This contri was already online for 3 days and its rating was expected to be steady without such dramatic fluctuations.December winners are notified already and the issue seems to be closed but I am not satisfied with the answer.
