As enraged demonstrators torched Muslim Brotherhood offices in several Egyptian cities, a defiant Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi defended his recent decree granting himself sweeping powers before a crowd of supporters outside the presidential palace in Cairo Friday.

Morsi issued a presidential decree stating that any challenges to his decrees, laws and decisions were banned. He further announced he would be ousting those in government who question him.

Reacting to the decree, thousands of demonstrators gathered in Cairo’s Tahrir Square on Friday, responding to calls by Egyptian opposition leaders for a “million-man march” to protest against what they called a “coup” by the Islamist president.

Reporting from Tahrir Square, FRANCE 24’s Alexander Turnbull said the crowds started pouring into Cairo’s most symbolic square in the afternoon and that the numbers kept swelling as the Friday noon prayers ended.

Morsi also made a declaration that no court could dissolve or question the country’s Constituent Assembly appointed by him, which is drawing up a new Egyptian constitution which will strickly follow Islamic law.

The White House released a statement this morning that the United States fully supports Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi and will not interfere in the Arab Spring taking it's natural course.

Mohamed Morsi is an inspiration, he's willing to put his ass on the line for his people and push through what's good for them. Hopefully Obama is paying attention, time to cut through the red tape and judical road blocks. Our Constitution was written by 100% old white men, time to rewrite it.

Freedman, If he is pushing through a constitution that strictly follows Islamic law, then he is not doing anything good for the people of Egypt. Religion should never have a major role in government, especially one that is so twisted as Islam.

When Poland broke free from under the thumb of the USSR the Catholic Church wanted a constitution based on their religious rules. It was rejected and Poland had a proper constitution based on laws and not the rule and decrees of the church.

I think that eventually The West will wind up in a much more major military campaign in that part of the world to stop the tide of radicalism that's building up and spilling over into the rest of the world. Its only a question of when, not if.

Every action Obama has taken in the Middle East will result in a major military campaign in that part of the world, I feel we're looking at WWlll. It's only a matter of when, not if.
