Income Inequality Better Than 50 Years Ago

If you compare just the income of a productive person such as myself to a bum like Clownslacker, then of course he will look incredibly poor.

However, when you consider transfer payments such as Clown's welfare checks and his rent subsidy and his Obama phone, his income has risen when compared to a bum equivalent to Clown half a century ago.

This undercuts a lot of the leftist rhetoric today.

Did anyone else notice that johnfibs didn't offer any facts nor a shred of evidence to support his lies?

He never does, because he can't.

He just pulls that partisan shit out of his ass.

We have the richest poor people in the world...
I can't afford the health benefits available to them...
I just heard in the news, healthcare workers are going
out to tent cities to vaccinate the homeless so they don't have to leave their tents...
Is it any wonder all of South America wants in... :O

Never in American history has the debate over income inequality so dominated the public square, with Democratic presidential candidates and congressional leaders calling for massive tax increases and federal expenditures to redistribute the nation’s income. Unfortunately, official measures of income inequality, the numbers being debated, are profoundly distorted by what the Census Bureau chooses to count as household income.

The published census data for 2017 portray the top quintile of households as having almost 17 times as much income as the bottom quintile. But this picture is false. The measure fails to account for the one-third of all household income paid in federal, state and local taxes. Since households in the top income quintile pay almost two-thirds of all taxes, ignoring the earned income lost to taxes substantially overstates inequality.

The Census Bureau also fails to count $1.9 trillion in annual public transfer payments to American households. The bureau ignores transfer payments from some 95 federal programs such as Medicare, Medicaid and food stamps, which make up more than 40% of federal spending, along with dozens of state and local programs. Government transfers provide 89% of all resources available to the bottom income quintile of households and more than half of the total resources available to the second quintile.

In all, leaving out taxes and most transfers overstates inequality by more than 300%, as measured by the ratio of the top quintile’s income to the bottom quintile’s. More than 80% of all taxes are paid by the top two quintiles, and more than 70% of all government transfer payments go to the bottom two quintiles.

Looks like dishonestjohn is pulling his "good old college plagiarism" schtick again.

Regurgitation-- it's how he gets by in this scary world.

Clearly johnfibs doesn't have a thought in his head unless his handlers put it there.

But he does like to take credit for those thoughts of better men than he.

Wake up, Clown.

This was a bit of the WSJ Op-Ed everybody has been talking about.

You should consider buying a computer.

Wake up, johnny.

It's dishonest (and illegal) to be a plagiarist.

I know you have no thoughts of your own, but you should make attributions when you steal someone else's thoughts.

And nobody around here is talking about it. It's just more partisan propaganda consisting of partial facts to intentionally give a false impression of the truth.

You didn't even notice the intentional dishonesty, did you. You just swilled it down like a good piggy.

Wake up, Clown.

This WSJ piece was the talk of the town, and it made very valid points.

Why compare poor versus rich income, while leaving out all of the transfer payments the poor receive?

The only purpose is deception.

^^^^^^Criminy, another conservative moron who doesn't grasp satire.

How do these clowns live on nothing but fart jokes, humorless racist insults, and Three Stooges violence?

I heard they all imagine themselves as the fourth Stooge and then cackle their fool heads off when they get kicked in the nuts..

Clowntoker used to be known as "Curly."

However, given his alopecia, his "Stooges" name is now "Shiny."

So Clown never contributes an original topic...
Plagiarized others and calls them names for their independent thought...

and calls it all, "satire". :O

"So Clown never contributes an original topic..."-sillydummy

But I DO contribute original topics, dummy. Just not very often. I contribute an original topic when I am interested in what you clowns have to say about a subject. And that isn't bery often because you say nothing that I can't learn from FOXnews or One America News.

As it is, I already know what you clowns will say about almost ANY topic because it will be whatever your handlers tell you to think. Once in a while I start a thread and check to see if any of you can think for yourselves.

You can't, unfortunately. You never have.

"Plagiarized others ..."-sillydummy

I have never plagiarized anyone, dummy. Using your own words against you is not plagiarism. I make no attempt to pass off your thoughts as my own, the way johnforbes does regularly.

I post my satire of your regurgitations immediately after you say them, so it is clear I am not pretending that your words are are mine. I am making a point of demonstrating they are your own words I am using against you. It is clear even to a dimwit like you that I am mocking YOUR inanitities. The proof of this is that you obviously picked up on it. So I wasn't plagiarizing, dummy.

"...and calls them names for their independent thought..."-sillydumfuck

If I am calling someone on plagiarism, then I am obviously not criticizing them for their "independent thought" you moron. Passing off someone else's thoughts as your own is not "independent thought" dummy. It's the bleating of a sheep. And the fact that johnforbes admitted that the thoughts he posted verbatim were not his own thoughts at all is proof of it. He plagiarized them because he did not attribute them to their author. He dishonestly pretended they were his thoughts.

And you don't care that he plagiarized them because he did exactly what you do every day--you pass off someone else's thoughts as your own because you HAVE no thoughts of your own. You are unable to use critical thinking to question anything you read or hear. So you believe what others tell you to believe without question.

The pathetic thing here is that I proved johnforbes plagiarized his post by getting him to admit it, and, rather than thank me for exposing his dishonesty, you attack me for it.

That proves that you have no wish to face that sad truth about the fundamental political philosophy of you and your ilk, which is to believe whatever your handlers tell you to believe and to attack anyone who threatens that compliance to their whims. You would rather shoot the messenger than acknowledge that you regularly vote against your own best interests.

You're nothing but a useful tool, the same as johnforbes. :O :(

Let's ponder this.

Clown, who logs in daily under the handle "Clowntoker," is calling other people "clowns"?

The irony is rich.

Let's ponder this.

I demonstrate that johnforbes is a dishonest plagiarist and what does he do?

Does he refute a word I said? Of course not. He can't because it's all true.

So in his intellectual impotence all he can do is lash out at his betters with a flailing personal attack made up entirely of yet another lie.

The irony is rich.

Let's ponder this.

The subject of this thread is income inequality.

When transfer payments are factored in, as they should and must be, things are better for poor people like Clownslacker and his fellow slackers.
