Just Talking to a M.D. Today

Today I was in a conversation with a M.D. with over 30 years experience.

He said more testing would produce more cases identified, and that this was good (if they were asymptomatic) because it lowered the mortality rate and represented progress toward herd immunity.

This is what an actual M.D. said, not me.

That's what every scientific mind has been saying for months, johnny. This is not news. It's exactly what I have been telling you and you have been attacking me for saying it; more nationwide coordinated testing and tracing. Trump has created obstacles to it instead of facilitating it.

Now Trump is telling his people to slow testing to make the increases in cases look smaller and thus 'better' for the election because it will give people the false impression that things are improving and that he is responsible for the improvement. In other words, he's saying that the greater our ignorance, the better his chances of getting re-elected. Apparently Republicans know they only thrive on broad based ignorance.

How can you support such a repellent policy, johnny, when your own MD recommends the opposite? How can you support a man who willingly sacrifices more Americans so that he can create an illusion of success by hiding the evidence of his failure?

No, it is exactly what I've been saying.

As for me, I don't have the slightest objection to additional testing because, so far, it has all revealed wide asymptomatic spread en route to herd immunity.

But every time Trump failed to act, you had no problem with his rhetoric or policies.

You still support his response to the virus (essentially doing nothing and leaving testing up to the states without adequate test kits, PPE, or test analysis) while simultaneously claiming you wanted the opposite response.

That's just nuts.

In many cases, testing is up to the states.

Every time they have done random testing, it revealed far wider asymptomatic spread than previously thought (to the tune of 85 times more).

This info helped put covid-19 into perspective as easily transmitted but with a mortality rate not much above regular flu -- dangerous for those > 65 or with diabetes or obese, but otherwise not as frightening.

COVID-19 is some 10 times deadlier than the flu and now they are telling us it's just like the flu?

This is the modern version of a manure spreader.....
