Did the Lockdowns Have Any Point?

Former head biostat, Rockefeller University.

Naturally, YouTube censored out his video because it provided a non-leftist viewpoint from a person with extremely good, and relevant, credentials.

Dr. Knut Wittkowski states how his initial claims have now been vindicated – the US and European policy lockdowns – came way too late as the virus had already made its way into the populations and therefore any panic measures to contain it would not be effective, and more likely could exact a massive cost on society and the economy. In other words: from a public health and respiratory virus mitigation perspective, the lockdowns were useless.

johnny, you can't pretend that the "Lockdowns" (actually flexible stay at home orders) were not effective since they achieved exactly what they were intended to do, which is "flatten the curve" of Covid-19 infections to keep our health care system from collapsing under an unmanageable flood of cases. They were never intended to stop the virus from entering the population, dummy. You made that up.

Of course the stay at home orders had a point; exactly what they achieved.

And you don't get to pretend Trump was somehow 'right all along' by now pushing a guy who says Trump's "US and European policy lockdowns" were enacted too late to help. We already knew that. Trump's advisors warned him about the risk a dozen times and he ignored them for months until it was too late.

But it's surprising to see you post something that argues the case that Trump has been incompetent in his COVID-19 response. Now you see his idiotic wishing for a "miraculous" disappearance of the virus is not a viable public health policy.

This thread was not about me, but about this highly qualified doctor who has a very relevant opinion.

No, johnny, this thread is NOT about some "highly qualified doctor". It's about whether there was a point to the so-called "Lockdowns". It says so right there in your thread title, dummy.

That's the question you asked and that's the question I answered.
"Of course the stay at home orders had a point; exactly what they achieved."

If you can't even understand your own dishonest stupid shit, maybe you shouldn't post it.

It was about the opinion of a highly qualified doctor that the later lockdowns were pointless.

I happen to concur as a lay reader.

As usual, Elkin, you miss the point.

With trillions spent and 36 million unemployed, shouldn't the question be asked whether further lockdowns have any point?
