Firstly, some wise governors and then (johnny come lately) Trump shut down the country. And Trump wants to open it prematurely against the recommendations of those "key doctors". They can't stop him from doing so any more than they could make him shut the country down.

Never mind that it was Trump who in 2018 mystifyingly closed the White House’s National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense. This was the White House pandemic office that was successful against the Ebola outbreak under Obama. Trump's hatred for everything Obama caused this YUGE blunder.

Never mind that, unlike South Korea which had its first COVID case on the same day the U.S. did but quickly got their outbreak under control, the Trump Administration failed to respond with the recommended broad testing and tracking for the virus in the U.S..

Never mind that until quite recently the Trump Administration left the response to the crisis in the hands of individual states without the authority, funding, or supplies to respond adequately. Instead they were left begging for supplies from the national stockpile that didn't come.

Never mind that it was Republicans who were ridiculing the Democrat governors who took steps Republicans considered needlessly "drastic" to curb the spread.

Never mind that the Pentagon wanted to send out thousands of ventilators to problem areas but the Trump Administration didn't tell them where to send them.

Never mind that only brown-nosing Republican governors were the tragic holdouts to taking effective action, begging their lord and master for permission to take action that finally came only after three months of incompetence in the White House.

Never mind that Trump sent China 18 tons of the very supplies we are desperately short of at home.

Democrats thought this was the crisis they needed as part of their insurance to keep Trump from getting re-elected. It is now 4 weeks that Fauci has been saying HCQ must be tested, so Fauci just wasted a precious month in which he could have tested HCQ.

It begins to look as if Fauci is happy with the status quo and doesn't want to solve the problem with a cheap, available, old malaria drug.
