Firing at back at President Trump’s recent declaration that Fox News isn’t “working” for him anymore, Fox host Neil Cavuto sharply rebuked the Trump, saying that it’s not his, or the job of his network to “fawn” over any President him
“First of all, Mr. President, we don’t work for you. I don’t work for you. My job is to cover you, not fawn over you, or rip you, just report on you, to call balls and strikes on you. My job Mr. President, our job here is to keep the score, not settle scores,” Cavuto said this Thursday in a segment that’s getting a lot of attention.
Cavuto went on to say that Trump is a fan of Fox as long as he’s not being fact-checked.
“You are the President; It comes with the job. Just like checking what you say, and do, comes with my job,” Cavuto said, before listing off a series of falsehoods Trump has regurgitated in the past.
“I’m not the one who said tariffs are a wonderful thing; you are,” the Fox host said. “I’m not the one that said Mexico would pay for the wall; you did. Just like I’m not the one who claimed Russia didn’t meddle in the 2016 election; you did.”
Cavuto cited more false claims from Trump: his denial that he payed adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 in hush money to keep quiet about an alleged affair; his claim that the Access Hollywood video was fake — “These aren’t fake items. They are real items, and you really said to them,” Cavuto said. “Fake is when it’s wrong Mr. President, not when it’s unpleasant.”
“Hard as it is to fathom, Mr. President, just because you’re the leader of the free world, doesn’t entitle you to a free pass. Unfortunately just a free press.”
Cavuto’s monologue comes on the heels of another Fox employee reminding Trump that Fox is not his own personal media outlet. On Wednesday, veteran Fox analyst Brit Hume retweeted Trump’s tweet slamming the network, writing, “Fox News isn’t supposed to work for you.”
