Political discussions about everything

I just finished the book by Preet Bharara called "Doing Justice". He takes you through every stage of the justice system and explains in great detail why things happen as they do. Although he was fired by Trump, the book is amazingly non-political. There are often side stories of his that shines a light on his triumphs and his failures and and puts a human face on the justice system. He also goes into great detail why some cases are not prosecuted. The section on why the bankers who caused the 2008 Crash were not prosecuted was an eye-opener.

I recommend this book to anyone that wants a clearer picture of the ins and outs of the justice system.

Translation - The book is void of conservative views.

New York Times comment on the book
Fired by the president, the former US attorney has written his first book. He talks about when Trump will face justice – and why he fears for his own safety

Any book unread, isn't political.

That is true.

I've skimmed both of Barry O's books.

Before I opened them, there was nothing political there.

Once I opened them, there was a ton of ghostwritten blather which was published for the purpose of self-glorification in order to attain high political office.

Justme and John...There is a book out by Preet Bharara that takes on the Imitation President but the book I posted about is strictly apolitical. So, Justme did a quick Google search and found the NYT piece about the other book and, in his passion of responding to every post whether he knows what he is talking about or not, he quickly posted false info.

Snakeoil, why do you call Trump an "imitation"?

As a 70-year-old billionaire, he was a hundred times more substantive and proven as a person than young Barry Obama with his lighter-than-air promises of "Hope and Change."

Snakeoil, I don't know how old you are, but the reality is that the really young presidents like Teddy and JFK were the ones where voters had to simply hope for the best.

The claims of Russian hacking have never been proven beyond a few ads on Facebook. The DNC refused to turn over its server to the FBI, and that in essence created very reasonable doubt over whether the DNC had ever really been hacked.

"The Russian government interfered in the 2016 presidential election in sweeping and systematic fashion," Mueller wrote in the 448-page document, which lays out new details about a Kremlin-backed plot that compromised Democrats' computer networks and targeted state and local election offices. Mueller wrote that investigators also found evidence of repeated communications — but not "coordination" — between associates of then-candidate Donald Trump and people claiming to have damaging information on Hillary Clinton.

"Although the investigation established that the Russian government perceived it would benefit from a Trump presidency and worked to secure that outcome, and that the Campaign expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts, the investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities," Mueller wrote.

The report discloses that the FBI believes Russian hackers succeeded in breaching "at least one” Florida county government by sending malicious emails to local election officials, although Mueller’s team “did not independent verify that belief." That detail echoes a cryptic statement last August from then-Democratic Florida Sen. Bill Nelson, who faced criticism for saying, without evidence, that Russians had accessed his state’s voter data.

The U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee has concluded that election systems in all 50 states were targeted by hackers linked to the Russian government, according to a heavily redacted report released today.

In 2017, we’d heard 39 states, and the Department of Homeland Security officially admitted that 21 states had been targeted later that year. It was only this April that a joint report from DHS and the FBI indicated that Russian hackers may have tried to probe every single U.S. state’s election infrastructure for flaws.
"“Russian cyber actors were in a position to delete or change voter data”"

Because the relevant sections of today’s report are mostly blacked out, it’s not clear how sure the Senate Intelligence Committee is that Russia probed every state, or what the evidence might be. But it does say that some unnamed intelligence gathered in 2018 backed up earlier assumptions by National Security Council cyber coordinator Michael Daniel, and the DHS, that every state was hacked.

John, quit posting obvious falsehoods; it's beneath you. The WAS Russian hacking of the election in 2016.

Snake, I'm glad you're giving Mueller so much credibility since Mueller also said neither Trump or anyone associated with him were involved in the Russian involvement. What Mueller didn't say, was that Hillary wasn't involved in with the Russians in their involvement in our elections. Hillary and DNC paid millions for Russian involvement and Trump still beat her.

John Forbes, you asked why I called what's-his-name "Imitation President." Remember when you were a kid and you played cowboys and Indians, Superman or Batman? Whichever you imitated it didn't make you that actual hero. That's just like what's-his-name in the White House. He plays at being a world leader in the childish ways he sees the office. Below is a link to an article that points out some of his warped views, you will see that it is not all fun and games.

Trump's views are his, and not even nearly as warped as the socialism and open borders of Liz Warren, Sanders, et alia.
