One Reason for Rising Temperatures

Weather stations tend to be located at airports. Many are at colleges.

Airports have jet exhaust heat, tons of traffic, and are covered in blacktop or concrete.

Over the past half century, the most typical college sight was a building crane.

Almost every suburban and urban weather station is in a high-heat-producing or retaining area.

Thoughts?

It is both cute and pathetic that johnforbes is still living in 1950.

"Weather stations" in the 21st century are ocean buoys out at sea taking constant water temperature readings and relaying the data back to land via satellite. They are nowhere near any airports or construction sites or concrete.

"Weather stations" these days are satellites in space taking constant temperature readings of atmospheric heat, nowhere near any man made structures or aircraft.

"Weather stations" today in Antarctica check air temperatures and the rate if ice melt that has nothing to do with concrete, jet engines, or man made structures.

"Weather stations" in the Arctic collect data that are virtually untouched by man made influence.

Why is it conservatives will glom onto any silly local factoid and pretend it applies to the entire world equally, just as they glom onto their own personal snow plow problem and believe it proves there is no global climate change.

There is no way to take a provincial mind like that of johnforbes and get him to see the big picture when his entire "Weltbild" is only what he sees reflected in his bathroom mirror each morning.

Just a thought...

Out to sea, that would be interesting.

But many weather stations -- perhaps most -- are just where I stated, at airports or at colleges surrounded by hot exhaust fumes and concrete.

johnny, save yourself some trouble and embarrassment and look up the word "global" before you post any more simplistic uninformed nonsense about global warming.

No, I do not need to look up the word "globe."

If you'll recall, there was a gal named Eva that I met in 8th grade.

Her globes were magnificent, as was her global perspicacity.

Whether I'm right, or whether I'm wrong, whether I find a place in this world or never belong...

You've already found your place in this world, johnny--- the Republican Party, where all mentally-stilted hypocrites seem to abide.

Weather stations tend to be located at airports. Many are at colleges.
Real scientist have pointed that fact out years ago those pushing the agenda are only using samples selected from metro areas where buildings, roads and other factors inflate the real temps and had stopped using the samples from the more remote stations which disproved their agendas.
