Call it what it is: a desperate midterm election Hail Mary -- President Donald Trump floating a proposal to eliminate birthright citizenship by executive order.

Let's cut to the chase: This literally can't happen.
In the President's way is a little thing called the Constitution, which he swore under oath to uphold.
Birthright citizenship is a hot-button issue for anti-immigration activists, adding to Trump's intentionally toxic rhetoric about a migrant "invasion."
But birthright citizenship is embedded in the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, which says, in part: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States."

Hey I thought you guys on the right believed in the Constitution there's no way you should be supporting Trump claim to use an executive order to overturn an amendment.. Where is your outrage over this..

A non-citizen doesn't have citizen rights, it's in the Constitution.

If a child is born on US soil that child is a citizen no matter what..

That opening article from CNN misses the point (not surprisingly given CNN's egregious bias).

Legislation to clarify the intent of the 14th would be good, but an exec order clarifying it would be fine.

Anybody can do a little research and see the 14th had nothing to do with illegals, and that is is wrongly applied to reward with citizenship the breaking of US law.

Actually it would be a good idea, not because it would take effect …
but because a lawsuit would be filed and bring the issue before the courts...!

and that would serve two purposes that I see ,,
One it would clarify the issue once and for all..
But more immediately,
it would serve to discourage illegal immigration for that purpose for some
years to come while the case moves through the courts... :o

And there are 195 countires in the world today...
So maybe it is time to change that part of the 14th....


Illegal parents sell the SSNs of their US born kids..the buyer in turn sells it to someone else and so on...
When the kid grows up, he finds out 100s of people have the same SSN all claiming to be the rightful owners. :o

It has been known, for a very long time, that the 14th really doesn't give citizenship to the kids of illegals.

So this has NOTHING to do with amending the Constitution, or changing it, or the other leftist talking point.
