For what ever reason he seems to have become more of a liberal during his last 12 months, it's as if he was losing his mind. He was a veteran and he was an American, he deserves respect for that, but he was a very deceptive politician, may he rest in peace.

However,the error you're making here is that the only way to escape that trap is to refuse to become a soldier for those elders in the first place when you know you will be used for immoral purposes of those who are too cowardly to either fight themselves or send their own sons first.
