Well, there are a number of factors.

Most presidents lack the coat tails to pull along candidates in mid-terms.

Sure, you'd like to see the win have been by the precise margin of Trump's victory, but that isn't realistic for a less charismatic person.

The problem for CNN is that its Trump hatred means that the Republican either lost or didn't win by enough, and either way CNN does its hatred of Trump.

The fact that Trump won by 21 points and another Republican only won by 7 among the same voters demonstrates how loved and respected Trump is. I'm betting in 2020 Trump will win by 31 points or more among those voters.

You can be it was over $20 million, they went all out to try and take that seat to send a message and lost. What I'm loving about all of this before the 2018 elections is the DNC is going broke and their donors are drying up, I hope they keep spending on these seats they can't win.
