Michelle picked black activist Amy Sherald, a Baltimore-based artist to do her portrait for the Smithsonian. Michelle chose Sherad since all her work addresses social justice and black suffrage. Sherald did capture the chip Michelle always carries on her shoulder plus her huge manly hands, but she made Michelle much younger and added caucasion features in an attempt to make her look more attractive. Michelle only had one comment when it was unveiled "WOW" others asked who the portrait was suppose to be.
