Rachel Brand, associate attorney general in the Department of Justice, is stepping down from her position. In the line of succession, Brand has been behind Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. Rosenstein is overseeing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. She was in line to oversee the investigation if Rosenstein stepped down.

Brand had assisted in an extension of the National Security Agency's warrantless surveillance program.

Currie Gunn, Brand’s assistant, has also left the department, according to The Times.

Yes, another one bites the dust.
David Sorenson is the second White House staffer to resign over domestic violence charges.

What is it with Republicans? Why do they hate women so much?

And why does Trump hire so many of them?

And why doesn't the White House do something about getting rid of these guys after the FBI tells them about it?
Porter had access to the most secret information in America and he couldn't get a security clearance for a year.
If Trump didn't know, and Kelly didn't know, then who is it that let this guy into the White House?
Doesn't anyone there check credentials? Those in control apparently aren't in control.
That should worry EVERYONE, even Trump supporters.

This has nothing to do with that fellow, and Kelly was only cited as a proxy for another attack on Trump.

The Democrats at the Washington Post couldn't care less about the actual case, but simply want to use it to attack Trump.

Actually, the "Me Too" stuff is a mistake because it allows any woman to ruin any man's career, and women are just as dishonest and partisan as men.

So johnforbes is on record as being just fine with a guy who can't get a security clearance seeing the most secret information in America for a year.
And he's also fine with a President and Chief of Staff telling us they were both unaware of it for a year. Unbelievable.

Any other conservatives here who are just fine with this state of affairs?

Please rethink that "fine with" speech pattern, which is juvenile.

Process is what divides our society (or used to) from dictatorships.

Today, a mere accusation is deemed sufficient to ruin a career.

The Red Scare of the 1950s was criticized by every leftist, but today the Left is seeking to carry out its own new version of a Red Scare with this Russia nonsense.

And it was only Democrats, from Jonathan Winer to Mark Warner, who did collude with Russians.

You characterized this as a mere political attack without any comment or concern at all about the lack of security clearances in the White House for a year.
You characterized it as merely a disgruntled wife ruining a career.

If that's not being despicably "just fine" with the situation, what is?
You're just fine with them breaking the rules for the sake of Porter.

"Process is what divides our society (or used to) from dictatorships."-johnflubs

Yes, and the White House ignored the process to allow Porter to work that job. They shrugged off "process" because they have no problem with domestic abuse in the White House.
And that isn't hyperbole. They really don't care. To them it is a birthright of being a man and they (like you) don't believe any man should suffer professionally for beating his wife, regardless of the security concerns it raises.

Huma was never ever able to qualify for a security clearance because of her Iran ties and activities she was involved in. She not only handled Top Secret documents and briefings she stored that information on a private computer that was used to surf porn. Her explanation for sending the Top Secret documents to her husbands private computer "Hillary liked print out of the documents and I could never figure out to do it on the government systems so I sent them our private computer to print them out at home" The Democrats' response "Extremely careless but good explanation, no foul or harm done."

And you have no problem with that?

You support Trump and Kelly and Porter in this?
"If the Democrats can do it, why can't we?"

When Bill Clinton was caught with DNA on a blue dress, and it was learned he had used cigars as sex toys, and gotten oral sex in the Oval Office from an intern the age of his daughter, Democrats preached about proportional justice.

Was there any security risk in all of Bill's 20 or so liaisons?

Why yes, tremendous risk of blackmail.

"If the Democrats can do it, why can't we?"
So when did he send Top Secret documents to a private computer like Huma did? I must have missed that.

You have no idea what he did or didn't do, Tool.

And that's the point.

He couldn't get a security clearance so he shouldn't have been there whether he did anything or not.

Monica had a security clearance for her job, johnny, which puts her one up on Porter, doesn't it.

Regardless, "the Democrats did it too" is not an excuse in my world. Why is it sufficient in the conservative world?

Moral arm wrestling won't work here.

Hillary protected predator Bill, and she used Obama's intel apparatus to skate free after breaking the law.

And also sought to frame Trump.

Moral relativism won't work here.

Donald Trump is President and Hillary isn't. It is not her White House that is misogynistic and irresponsible with security.

And also Trump is framing himself with his actions.

Not surprisingly, Clownslacker is wrong.

For the FBI and the DoJ (with Sessions recused), Hillary was indeed the president throughout 2017.

That is why corrupt Democrat officials assembled a fake dossier, and used it to gain a FISA warrant to wiretap Trump, and renewed it four times.

Carter Page never even talked to Trump.

Nobody ever believed he colluded with Russia, and he was never charged with a thing.

They wiretapped him to "incidentally" wiretap Bannon et alia.

There are jail cells waiting.

But we've already seen that Orwell was right: "All pigs are equal, but some pigs are more equal than others."
