Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan and City Attorney Pete Holmes will ask the city’s courts to vacate misdemeanor drug convictions for those convicted prior to the legalization of pot in Washington state. 4,900 felony drug convictions will also be examined to determine if they should be retroactively reduced to misdemeanors. First priority will be undocumented residents who's ability to remain in the United States, could be adversely by their felony convictions. In Washington State, African Americans were arrested at 2.9 times the rate of whites. Latinos and Native Americans were arrested at 1.6 times the rate of whites, according to the city. Mayor Durkan said "This is our opportunity to set things right by vacating select felony city convictions." She added that since she's become Mayor she's made it a priority to reduce or drop charges on those who are disproportionately affected.

So if you're here illegally (or black) Seattle is going to erase your felony drug convictions and insure no future felony charges are brought against you. if you're white and an American citizen, you'll remain a felon and they'll take every opportunity to throw the book at you.

What more would expect from a lesbian Mayor of a liberal city. A year from now she will point out the massive drop in number of people charged with felonies shows crime has decreased under leadership.
