Follow The Money

Bannon has made remarks in the book "Fire And Fury" that the Trump crew will fall over money laundering. If you have any doubt as to the seriousness of money laundering get the book "The Panama Papers" or follow the more recent expose" that is being called The Paradise Papers." It's not enough that tax systems (all) allow breaks for the wealthy, well connected, political leaders and others; they want to shelter their wealth from their governments.

Money laundering goes wayyyy back. Have you ever wondered why Switzerland hasn't fallen to some government or other? Switzerland people are 65% ethnic Germans and the language of Switzerland is Swiss German. Hitler could have walked into the country and taken over without firing a shot. But...the world's moneyed need a place to hide their money.

The UK is strongly in favor of cracking down on money laundering. So they say. But...countries with lax money reporting standards that give a wink to money laundering such as Bermuda, Nevis, St. Kits are part of the UK commonwealth.

The Cook Islands have a free association with New Zealand.

Panama relies on the US to stay alive and the US could easily stop them from laundering money.

Deutsch Bank is a German bank with a huge Russia presence in Moscow. It's headquarters is in Frankfort and is regulated by the German government. It has been fined hundreds of millions for illegal activities. Trump supposedly gets much of his financing from them through the Moscow office.

Lichtenstein is a tiny country that has little economy other than money services. .It's banking system is set up to aid in money laundering.

All in all, it would be relatively easy for the world to set money laundering way back. Stopping the flow of money into those tax havens is difficult but stopping the flow out of them is easier.

But doesn't everybody have mixed feelings over tax havens?

Half the fun of a Ludlum novel or a Grisham novel is where the protagonist sets up a bank account in some locale where it is concealed from taxation.

Every successful person should pay every penny of his taxes because you don't want to complicate your life with IRS problems.

Do billionaires become billionaires by being timid in their financial dealings? No.

Speaking of presidents and taxes, Hillary claimed she left the White House "dead broke" due to legal bills from her husband getting oral sex from an intern the age of Bill's daughter in the Oval Office, then telling lies about that under oath to a federal judge and grand jury. The Clinton Foundation was a pay to play operation selling access to a past and a potential president.

When Hillary lost, donations to the Clinton Foundation came to a screeching halt because there was no access to sell.

A final note: Speaking of the IRS, how come the 1040 Instructions for tax year 2017 are not yet available?

Isn't it amazing that all those people, companies and countries stopped caring about the amazing work being done by the Clinton Foundation the moment she no longer had any influence in our government? When she announced she was running for President and the media predicted she was a shoe in, donations to the Clinton Foundation went up almost 300% for 2106.

The good thing is a criminal investigation has been opened and the Clinton Foundation money is now being followed.

The 2017 instructions are now available.

As to the Clinton Foundation, it is important for this to be looked at because NOBODY should be above the law in this country.

Everybody knows that Hillary violated 18 USC regarding the handling of classified material.

Huma and Mills lied to the FBI about not knowing about the private server and email handling. Martha Stewart and General Flynn got in trouble for telling lies to the FBI, but Hillary's people did the very same thing and skated free.

Two standards of law, that is NOT the American way.

I'm really surprised to see johnforbes so adamantly insisting that Trump be investigated equally for his involvement in Russian money laundering through Deutsche Bank.

You're the first conservative here to say so. Good for you.

If they want to look and see whether Trump's banking was inappropriate, that's fine as long as there is probable cause.

What you see with a billionaire, or somebody who invests internationally like the former John Templeton, is a person who is aggressive and innovative but obeys the law because they have a lot to lose otherwise.

In the case of the Clintons, it appears that they got 140 million in a pay to play scheme, and that top officials at "justice" helped protect Hillary and frame Trump.
