What's the reason behind the new law? The state needs money or what?

Liquor laws around the country are screwey. In S.C you can only get a drink in a bar out of those mini airline bottles. Bars have to stock thousands of the things. In Iowa you can't have two drinks in front of you. Order a shot and a beer and the bartender hands you your shot and stands there with your beer until you finish the shot, then hands you your beer. Utah was the same way.
Texas, of all places, has dry counties but I remember being down there in the early 80s and seeing people driving with a can of Bud on the dash. Perfectly legal, then.
Louisiana has those drive up daiquiri stands. They hand you a plastic cup with a straw taped to the side and it's considered a sealed container until you stick the straw into the cup.
Maybe some of these have changed, but I encountered all of them.

Thanks, Brandon.....I hope that passes. With our bunch of crazies, though.....you never know.
How's that new island down your way doing? Have you been out to it yet? Seems pretty cool.

It's the restaurant industry that is pushing the law. It's a start.
That "island" has been there as long as i can remember as a giant sand bar and shells.... it's just above the water now. I've fished it, surfed it, etc. It's actually a really good spot for fishing but I wouldn't recommend anyone swimming over to it. Really strong current there. And you got some big ole nasty sharks that feed there. Still very cool though. The storms always mix up the sand bars, but eventually they all return to the same spot.
Woof

Thanks for the more accurate description than we get from the media.
