Comey has already testified under oath to Congress that he can't discuss conversations he had with the President (Obama), democrats have stepped into a Trump checkmate situation. They demanded Comey come before Congress and testify and that he produces his notes...Republicans on that board will require Comey release all notes, 8 years worth under Obama, 3 months under Trump, he has already testified he can't discuss conversations he had with the President.

Even the peerless journalists at the NY Times were merely read the memo (or read something) over the phone.

The one Comey is afraid of is Trey Gowdy because he KNOWS Gowdy will be asking if Comey keeps memos concerning investigations and if so why weren't they made part of the case and then demand he cough ALL of his memos up. If Comey decides to discuss his conversations with Trump Gowdy will remind him that the last time he was asked about conversations with the President (Obama) Comey told Gowdy he couldn't discuss conversations with the President.

Wasn't it on May 3rd that he testified under oath that nobody ever interfered with an investigation?

I was mistaken. It was Comey's decision to release the testimony a day early.

Maybe his reasons were to keep Trump's team off balance and force them to change direction in preparations, or maybe he wanted to give the media time to vet the testimony so they would be prepared to call the Trump team on any lies they might try to tell?

Already (a few minutes ago) Trump's personal lawyer has publicly lied about the timing of Comey leaking his memo to the NY Times.
That's a really amateur mistake on his part. It was fact checked within five minutes and proved to be a lie.

Is EVERYONE around Trump simply incompetent or dishonest?
