So why shouldn't Trump?

I hope the Democrats keep demanding criminal investigation into contacts with Russia because it's giving Sessions the power and authorization to do just that. What kind of special deals has our government made with Russia over the last 8 years, including why did the Obama Administration transfer control of 20% of U.S. uranium deposits to Russia?

Hillary's uranium deal was apparently so Bill could get compensated via speaking fees.

No idea who started this thread, but it makes a very salient point about the hypocrisy of CNN and MSNBC.

Not to mention their ignorance of history.

silly, no one is claiming it's a crime to set up back channel communications with foreign governments. But there are problems with Kushner doing what he did when he did.

When Kushner did this, he was a private citizen. It probably isn't illegal for a private citizen to establish contact with Russians over Russian communication lines. Nor is it illegal for private citizens to have relationships with foreign banks.

The problem comes when Kushner failed to mention these contacts on his SF 86 form when he was vetted for security clearances. This is a crime.
If he had revealed these contacts, (as well as the dozens of other "forgotten" contacts Kushner had with Russians that he admits to) he would not have received security clearance and he would not have been eligible for his job at the White House.

But it doesn't seem to bother Trump (or you) that his team routinely can't qualify for security clearances. Forget about the perfunctory expulsion from of the White House of the seven staff members for failure to pass their background checks. Look at Flynn. Trump waited 18 days to fire him after learning that Flynn was a foreign agent, that he had lied to the Vice President, and had lied criminally on his SF 86.
