What Will Really Make Health Care "Affordable"?

Obamacare had the individual mandate requiring people to buy it, and John Roberts pretended that was a "tax" when he knew very well it wasn't.

Also, the Obamacare mandate was that certain things be covered.

So far, the Ryancare drafts also include a mandate as to what the plan contains, and so thus far that plan will not lower costs.

What Will Really Make Health Care "Affordable"?

The one thing that won't make it affordable is a Republican health care plan. Any Republican health care plan.
That's a given.

A Republican plan is guaranteed to leave more Americans without health insurance than are presently uninsured under the ACA, will be less affordable to those who need coverage most, and healthcare prices will continue to go up just the same as under the ACA.

Only those living in la-la land don't know this already.

But that is not a given.

If, for example, somebody needs a knee joint replaced, there's no marketplace to find out the real cost.

Instead, docs do whatever and bill the insurance for whatever they can get away with.

The only hope to reduce costs is some Repub plan with some market incentives (which was one flaw of Ryan's bill).
