My Hat In The Ring

According to the news, the post of National Security Director has been turned down by Gen. Petraeus. I'm throwing my hat in the ring for this position. I'm as unqualified for the position as most of Trump's other picks so I would be a perfect pick.

I'm impressed Snake, I wasn't aware you were a General. Were you 3 or 4 star?

Snake, what would be the very first, top priority security "area" that you would tackle?
In other words, what is our biggest security concern?

The biggest and most urgent concern that should be addressed is the evil and disgusting imbecile that inhabits the WhiteHouse partime.

Hillary kept classified material for years on a private server, thus contravening federal law.
She is lucky not to be working on her tennis game in federal prison, as any non-connected citizen would be who had done the same thing.

But you, and all Trump supporters, would like to imprison Hillary and anyone who says anything even remotely negative about Donnie.
That's how Donnie's boss, Vlad, does it. If it works and is good enough for Vlad...
On the other hand, don't forget Donnie's supporters are in the minority of voters. Thus making Donnie the Fake President.

Hillary would avoid prison by claiming health problems, but the law should have been followed with respect to her contravening the statute on handling classified material.
Let the average person do the same thing and he would land in prison.

Namvet As I posted once before, military service is big in my family. It's viewed as a duty to serve in the family. I am a veteran,(luckily I got out with everything intact) I don't go around shoving that fact in everyone’s face. I don't feel that anyone owes me anything special for doing what I considered my duty.
I agree that it is something special to be able to call yourself a veteran but it is something I carry inside of me and I smile inside of myself when I see all of the citizens that never had that special opportunity that I had. Every day, when I see the millions of little things that make this country great, I smile to myself and know that I had some very small part in making that happen. I never look down on those who chose not to serve in the military because everyone does serve their country in their own way.

Let's see;
a. Our "dear Leader' thinks that Russia is misunderstood and that we can be best buddys with them even after they;
b. Seized part of Georgia and annexed it to Russia.
c. Annexed Crimea.
d. Fomented the political climate in Ukraine to keep the Prime Minister favorable to Russia in power
e. Started and backed with money, arms and intelligence the Ukrainian opposition to the present government of Ukraine.
f. All evidence indicates that the missile that shot down the commercial airliner over Ukraine was launched with Russian troops.
g. Entered Syria under the guise of helping and bombed the rebels almost exclusively.
h. China is expanding in the South China sea and even building man-made islands to secure their position in the area.
i. China is rapidly expanding their military e4ven to the extent of stealing the latest USA technology.
j. North Korea is hell-bent on acquiring missles capable of hitting the West Coast of the USA and is fomenting trouble in the Korean Peninsula.
k. In general, the North Korean leader is unstable to say the least and anything is possible in that area even war.
l. Almost anywhere you can point to in the Mid-East is a tinderbox and could erupt at any moment.
m. Al Qaeda is expanding to Yemen and Liberia and our focus seems to have shifted away from them a bit.
n. Iran is building up their military and has continued to vow to exterminate Israel.
o. Indonesia and Malaysia hate each other and the situation could grow.
p. Viet Nam is making noises about expanding their reach. A minor problem now but it could grow.
q. The governments of a couple of South American countries are unstable and the situation could get out of hand and spill over the border.
r. It wouldn't take much to start the Baltic States up again.
s. Governments in Europe are wary of the Trump "Presidency" and are trying to figure out where the USA stands in NATO.
t. Several African nations have been fighting insurgents and the battles keep going on and on with fluid borders.
U. Greece is in financial trouble and is seeing the rise of Neo-Nazi groups. A minor problem now but it could grow with the high unemployment and the lack of money to pay pensions, etc.
Is that enough? We need qualified people to run the government. Some of Trump's cabinet appointments have me scratching my head.

Snake...is that the order of importance? I simply wanted to know what you think is the greatest security problem we face. Calls for a "one line answer", not a list.

by tvd
Just wanted to see if you had the same answer that I have.
I think #1 on the list would have to be cybersecurity. We have to harden the access to our networks. Power grid is vulnerable. Wall street is vulnerable. Sensitive government sites have already been hacked.
Design a super firewall, and DON'T GIVE THE TECHNOLOGY OR SOFTWARE AWAY!!!!

Yep, and water supply is another vulnerable one.
Mass transit too.
Long after 9/11, the U.S. still doesn't not have biometric national ID.
Heck, the U.S. still lacks mandatory E-Verify, which would end a lot (not all) of the employment of illegals and cause a goodly amount of self-deportation.
But Democrats don't even want to deport illegal immigrants who are also felons. That stance is insane.

I'm surprised that Bannon didn't sucker Trump into making him the head of the NSC!

It raises the question: What credentials are correct re national security?
On the one hand, a reasonable person would indeed wonder about Bannon in that chain.
On the other, he has two graduate degrees and is more qualified than most talking heads on TV with their B.A.s in Journalism.

I wonder...does this go with national security?
I do not know the actual truth, fact, law, rule, whatever you want to call it, about the granting of Constitutional Rights to non-citizens.
Is there something concrete, something that is cut and dried, that the country's immigration and LEOs can rely on to make a decision? From what I know, it is not really decided and is still a wild argument every time the issue comes up.
What is the skinny on this? Anyone know (except Clown-moid)?

Geezus, tvd, this is not a difficult thing to look up, ya lazy S.O.B..
http://scholarship.law.georgetown.edu/c ... ext=facpub
For the truly lazy, start on page 370 and read a single page.
"I. Aliens, citizens, and Constitutional Rights"
Or you could just read the Constitution and the Amendments to see for yourself. :o

Every single item you listed happened under Obama because of Obama, I agree we need qualified people to run the government, not the likes of the Obama administration. Trump is putting in the cream of the crop our nation has to offer, Obama picked hacks with no experience even running a Dairy Queen.

^^^^^See? tvdud will remain ignorant just to (as he sees it) spite me.
And why? Because I knew something about our country he didn't and it pisses him off.
He's always pissed off for some reason just because someone isn't as ignorant as he is.
But worse than that, tvd is determined to remain ignorant rather than simply read the Constitution for the first time in his life.
Clearly he hasn't read it before now or he would be aware of words such as "persons" and "the accused" in the text where his stingy nature thinks it ought to read "citizens".
(That should dampen his reactionary enthusiasm for "original intent" Supreme Court rulings.)
Conservatives: "I'm an American and you aren't."
Liberals: "I'm a human being and so are you."
Fucking petty conservatives... they actually begrudge other human beings the same rights they themselves were fortunate enough to be born into, as if somehow they deserve those rights but others don't.

Liberals only like humans in the abstract.
Liberals want more ILLEGAL immigrants in America, and more UNCHECKABLE Syrians, even though they know it places American citizens at risk.
They simply don't care at all about national security or domestic crime.
