I'm bring this situation up again... what about MFF and the refund policy of the VW sister site?

I already emailed billing@redclouds.com and the reply was this and they have been unresponsive ever since them:

MFF was the creation of Igor.
the database of it is in the possession of Igor. we have no records whatsoever of it.
MFF will not return to VW.
you may contact the person who has the DB.

Billing

Who should I contact now and who is the DB person?

MFF, Redclouds and Funbags are all billed by the same company so if VW is putting up a fight one site them they have to deal with ALL of the sister sites. It's the same company! And obviously VW hasn't gotten the database logs from Igor then VW doesn't have that great of a legal team or has already lost and they new relaunch is oblivious and will never happen as Igor has already won.

BTW - don't promising a relaunch until VW has gotten the site up a running already rather than to promising a relaunch date by this date while they are still working away at it.

Katherine is oblivious about the relaunching date and how difficult it is to get the database repair and the server to support such activity and she has no idea what the legal team is in for. She is not suited for PR when she doesn't see the real picture or at least not at this time.

PR has to have the mentality of handling these things and has to know the legal things coming out of there mouth and hoping they it does not bite in the ass. The PR occupation actually has to go to college it's not as simple as being a high school graduate or only having a GED and being a secretary.

I've been a daily viewer of VW since the site began and contributed quite a few times (different user name years ago). I also ran an internet service provider building a wide variety of commercial sites and hosting them for over a decade. For those who haven't ever tried it, building a fully functional database driven site with multiple database interfaces and user authentication is a monumental task involving a nightmare of details capable of driving the most obstinate programers to the brink of going to church.

Though I've managed a few fairly large sites, I don't even want to try to imagine the terrabytes of data and images involved in VW and the other sites. I did regularly make full copies of all the sites I hosted keeping those copies offsite just in case of a server crash, drive failure, or simular disaster. I've never had to deal with intentional sabotage but some things (the "nimda" virus for example) I'm certain resulted in comparable situations... full meltdown, thousands of emails, phones becoming puddles of goo. Everyone at VW has my sincere sympathies but I do find it odd that there wasn't a functional recent copy of all involved sites which would allow reposting of something more than a few generic comments on the VW home page.

As a daily site visitor, I do think posting site status updates daily on the home page would be a good idea. It would let the majority (not just those who check the boards) know that something was being done.
I'd also suggest not posting any projected site rebirth date you wouldn't bet your life on... it's very frustrating to your customers and members.
... and who knows... Kathrine's tits on the home page might not hurt either

You must come and visit me at Kate's Corner. I have been piling up some pictures - now it is getting easier to take them as I keep taking them- If only some of these guys knew I was taking these pictures to post them on the site once it comes back up.

mastan - totally agree with you . The real glitch must be them trying to find some type of funding and apparently no one is interested

I also find it interesting that they have the time to go through all these posts and delete some, but can't do an update once or twice a day. I had originally suggested to Katherine that they have a locked thread titled "status report" way back when and she agreed, but they never implemented it, but now seem to be doing that. Still not updated on a regular basis. and like others said, why not give us a bit more detail on what the basic problems are.

I found it interesting that todays locked thread update is basically the same words taht Ghost used in this thread, yet it was posted as Katherine. I suspect Katherine does exist but is someone that got quickly to do "PR" so someone communicated with the community, but she had neither the experience or skills to do it. She did say in an early post that she was only 20. How would anyone expect someone at that age to be an experienced PR person, as a lot of people assumed. She isn't and now appears not to be doing any posting. Ghost seems to be the primary spokesperson.

I also thought it was generous of them to extend paid memberships for 90 days, but then, since that is their main revenue stream, that would pretty much eliminate any revenue for almost 90 days, except for brand new members. Does that sound like a good business plan? There is some talk about "new owners", how did that slip into all of this and who would want to buy this site's URL with the prospects of no revenue for 90 days.

Will this post get deleted. I'm not flaming anyone, and do want to see if come back up, but I'm concerned its not the same VW we use to have, not the same owners, players or "integrity"(ha).

Lol I had received an email from "Katherine" and she said she was 30! These people can't even ger their lies straight! It's no wonder that the site has so many problems and no where to go. How stupid that "she" locks out any comments and post the same thing that the 'ghost' did! Hahahehe and we are supposed to believe that this site is coming back?

To all VW fans and critics:

These folks are not trying to do a simple restore of a backup for there desktop computer. Show some patience with them and you will soon be rewarded. I have had to do the same thing with network recovery and it does take time. Quit your complaining and just check back everyday until it happens. Complaining will not help, it just adds to their frustration.

I believe it is rugrollers that got banned (for no reason I could see in any of his posts I read) and he had no choice but to take the redruggers nic to continue posting. But his redruggers posts seem to end up in a queue as you state, whereas his rugrollers ones were almost instantaneous.

Redrugger isn't, but his actual nic Rugrollers is, as well as his IP being banned.

That's right, as I've repeated in every post and message and as also stated in the post you responded to, Ghost -- I was banned as rugrollers (and my IP) so that I now have to operate on this tightly restricted proxy account.

Ghost/Katherine/etc, what you might not understand from your end is that being on a pre-moderated account with no PM via proxy is pretty much like being banned. I get bounced off every three minutes. So far, about 10% of my attempted posts have been approved -- none have been rejected so I presume they were just never considered. When they appear it is often so much later that no one would notice them.

Until last Tuesday, I was an active participant in a conversation that affects me greatly as a longtime contributor to the site. Now that participation has been rendered utterly impossible. All I can do is watch in silence and keep asking to be reinstated.

Why should this matter to you? Because you are purportedly trying to resuscitate a site that will depend upon contributors like me to provide your content. Why should I need to explain this to you? If I can't get any respect here I will obviously go elsewhere.

(In case this post goes through, I want to state how very sorry I am that a great many of those who have registered for this BB must feel just as shut out as I do now.)

(Oh, and thanks Zardoz for articulating so clearly why the information DJ has been putting together matters to us as contributors in a way that might be hard for non-contributors to understand.)

You're a little late to the game and more than a bit underinformed, my friend. It's been a month, and the PR machine at VW has handled this situation about as badly as possible. Im not sure if they could have screwed it up any more if they tried.

I (and many others) really hope the site comes back, and comes back well, but don't act like we don't have some legitimate beefs.

Once upon a time billing and the rest of VW/RC were disconnected. No one at VW/RC knew your credit card information, including your real name on that card. Now, it would seem Ghost is sitting on both side of that firewall.

Ghost, perhaps a little more information would be reassuring?

I can only go on what was posted and we were told in the olden days - no one at VW/RC had any access to the billing information. When you wrote to billing, you were not in contact with the RC crowd. If you had issues, Igor would email billing, but you never gave Igor any information that you might give to billing, such as CC transaction#. From Ghost's post, it would seem, that is no longer true. He seems to have direct access to both accounts.

If there never was a firewall, that's disturbing, but no reports of widespread problems.
If there will never be a firewall, that's a great concern considering recent events.

It seems like everyone has an idea on how you should rebuild. The thing about it is they are not going through the exhaustive amount of work you are doing, so ideas are easy. Be very sure that the majority of us waiting are very appreciative of your efforts. Looking forward to the relaunch

What a shocking reaction clouzeau. Who could have known that after so many people begged and clammored for at least a screen shot of the updated pages, people would casually mock what was finally produced?

For all the work and re-design, the screenshot looks like the old one. I do not understand why a business does not have a disaster recovery process and tape backup. I can restore a multi-million dollar IT system within 2 days at work.

I have given up and asked for a refund. I dont see that the wait was for anything new, and do not believe it is ever coming.

And the original site never worked that well to begin with, seems like every time i linked around within the sites, I was always logging in, biggest pain ever.

There will always be no pleasing some people. It's one thing to sit on the sidelines mocking and quite another to actually do something about it.

However, ghost/katherine shot themselves in the foot a bit with the "out of this world" billing. Leave an open goal and it's difficult for some people to resist smashing the ball into the net.

Just keep working as hard as you can and ignore the detractors. Good luck.

THEIR reaction is shocking!

They (Katherine/whoever) keep us waiting with lousy excuses, they promised a site that would be "out of this world" (quote) and the only thing they come up with is a bad low res screen shot that looks like copy of the previous site only with less sections, the few remaining being renamed!

Anyone can make up such an image using Photoshop, Word, Indesign or whatever software; that doesn't mean anything at all, this is just an IMAGE!

So yes I am shocked by their behavior and I am surprised you are not :!:

Short of that return, some are impatient and want a sign that progress is occuring behind the curtain or perhaps an honest timetable of what has been done and still needs to be done to get the site up again. Some just get angry and take exception to every word written on these boards. We all have our needs and our ways of handling the wait, we all have to suffer the writings of others who choose a method that is different from our own. No, your reaction is not in the slightest way shocking. Did you really think that I meant that literally or meant it to apply only to you? Weeks ago in answer to people begging for a screen shot to show what is happening I said it would really prove nothing. So on that, we actually agree.

I find it strange that both ******** and Voyeurweb are running their BB's with the same layout and design. The only difference I can see is the colors and one has naked women too. It is clear that this site has the copyright to the "eye" and the owner of the Voyeurweb website name, but still very curious that the sites are so similar.

But what happened to the board -- I can't customize the colors anymore and this red and black gives me a headache after two minutes. Anybody else notice this?

It is quite hard to read.

DarkJedi & LadyJedi, I agree to a certain point. The old site never allowed you to click and enlarge a picture, now both site do. At the bottom of both site they list a who is online box. It just seems strange that what is different is on both sites.

Yes...how could I miss this color change. Definitely a step backwards...

Murder on an android phone. Worse when posters change their text color.

Both sites are using phpBB free software. click the logo at the bottom and read about the software for running the board here and at VC.

Thats why they look the same and similar to so many BB.

The Old BB was a different software, I liked that better too but there are a few nice things about this one. I would like to see the old vsual experience with the addition of pic upload, edit and my darn beagle smilley back! 800x800 propics and links to profiles as before...

Which brings up the question, where the heck IS that info????? AND will it return???

And yes, phpBB software sucks IMHO. Image size is way too limited and images are cropped, forcing you to click the image just to see it.
