For the life of me I can not figure out why I can't upload and avatar or add a picture to my posts. Can anyone help??

Beerguy, to add an avatar or profile pic go to your User Control panel, click on the "Profile" tab and then click on "Edit Avatar". You'll see a browse button with the option to upload from your computer. Profile pics should not be more than 90 pixels and less than 6 kb. When you've uploaded the pic just hit the "submit" button! And...to add a pic to your post scroll down to the "Upload Attachment" button and click on the "browse" button. Don't forget to hit the "Add File" button once your pic is loaded, and then "submit". It's easy really...hehehe...
