Political discussions about everything

Da Donald announced that the federal government is bloated and inefficient, he said after he has his staff on board and key positions filled their first marching orders will be to do a top to bottom review of every agency to justify the need for each and every position. Those positions not needed will be slashed, "automatic" pay raises and bonuses will be stopped. Adjustments will be made in the pay, retirement and benefit structures. He admitted some things will have to be grandfathered in but even they will be held to higher standards of accountability and WILL be fired if they don't perform. He promised, the federal government is about to get a taste of reality.

ABOUT TIME!

Trump won't have much luck trimming the federal employees already there. There are federal unions, and the protections are too great.

The promise is in freezing new hires, and in making his political appointees make do with less.

Trump is the first president in a very long time who might actually cut the size of the federal govt.

Agree, but he can put the right people in charge that stop filling fluff positions and giving out automatic bonuses for just showing up for work. He can reduce or shut down agencies and hold those that remain more accountable. All of which have many federal workers (especially in D.C.) scared shitless.

Yep, the bonus situation is absurd.

For example, the southern border is very much NOT secured, but you can bet your bottom dollar that DHS employees are giving each other awards for great performance this year (and every year).

Just as in every bureaucracy, about 1/4 of the employees are great and do most of the work. But, when there is dead weight in the govt, it is really just a waste of taxpayer money.

Beef up the military, sure, but Trump should not increase the quantity of chairborne officers at the Pentagon.

Why are chaplains, nurses, and doctors officers in the military? Not to mention psychologists and, you know, all the people who now counsel gays and trans-genders on their military careers.

There's a ton of waste in the govt.

Chaplin's, Doctors, Nurses, Psychologists etc are officers in the military for two reasons. One to provide them with pay amounts closer to what they would make on the outside so they can keep them from getting out due to low pay and two so they can be given orders to deploy to places they wouldn't willingly go if they were civilians...

Military nurses are likely overpaid and shouldn't be officers anyhow.

As to chaplains, surely you could always get some to go to a combat zone because they aren't at much risk?

Psychologists, well, they aren't needed anyhow.

Military doctors are very, very seldom in uniform anyhow, and the helicopter extractions perfected in Vietnam mean they can be at nearby mobile surgery sites.

Trump needs to fix the military by going back to the requirement that if doesn't make the military more combat ready it isn't done, rather than this social experiment Obama has been running including allowing single overweight parents to join and drag down the units. Trump will also need to thin out Obama's officer appointments made upon race or sex rather than qualifications.

Yep, while other federal employees are shaking in their shoes concerning Trump's coming changes the military welcomes them. Over half on our units aren't combat ready due to having so many none deployable and unqualified social experiment members in them.
