A 'serious" question deserves a serious answer. This election has caused me serious concerns. I boiled down the election for a friend yesterday, you have your choice between a criminal or an idiot (take your pick.) There ARE two other candidate although they have zero chance of winning and a vote for them is a "throw-away."

a. Hillary said that when Bill left the White House they were in debt and broke. Her latest tax returns say that she made 10,4 million last year.(??????????????) I didn't know government service was that lucrative.

b. The Clinton Foundation :lol: :lol: :lol: has so many "grey" areas to it that I would be in jail if I tried to pull that off. Then Chelsea is put in charge of it at a salary of $1 million+. (Limo, driver, home office rental, emails,phones, and on and on. ( Hey Foundation...I'll run it for $100,000 a year, but I want the beneys too. Just think, you'll save 90% on my salary.)

c. We're expected to believe that governments and corporations will pay Hillary and Bill hundreds of thousands of dollars and expect nothing in return? I'm sure that not too many believe that.

d. Every so often the little things pop up like the Foundation tries to get a government position for those they feel deserve it. Is this this ethical?

e. Bottom line...I want a REAL independent investigation of Hillary and the Foundation.

f. Contrary to his statements, Trump is not paying for his campaign He lent the campaign $19 million to get it started. This is a loan and will be paid back.

g. Trump is making a profit running for President. His use of Trump ;limos, helicopters, trump jets, Trump offices, etc. must be paid for by the campaign at fair market value as dictated by Federal election law.

h. Trumps bankruptcies and business practices disturb me, (Walking away from his debts, etc.)

i. Trumps licensing of his name, business partnerships, and family entanglements in his businesses will make separation of the Presidency and his business interests almost impossible,

j. Trumps wealth has been built on huge debt, not an unheard of business practice. This could possibly be and anchor around his Presidential neck and possibly an embarrassment to the Presidency.

k. Trumps lack of knowledge of foreign affairs, government practises, and economics becomes more apparent each day. To me, this means that his advisors (people we don't know and didn't elect) will be the policy makers in a Trump Presidency.

g. The Trump campaign has hired Bannon to assist his campaign. Bannon is well-known for digging in the mud for dubious "facts" and blowing them up into pseudo-facts that ill-informed voters will beieve. The campaign looks ready to become a wallow-in-the-mud fight that will tarnish both Trump and Hillary beyond recognition. If this happens anyone can win and the country would be throw into chaos.

your answer is a non-answer. (This is a discussion not an attack.) I was laying out my quandary over this election. I feel that Hillary is so unethical that she is not worthy of consideration. It seems like every day there is a new reason to be suspicious of her. But, she is probably qualified for the office. Do not get me wrong; being a criminal AND qualified does not cut it for me.

I feel that Trump is not qualified for office even though he has been campaigning for a year. I feel that he is as unethical as Hillary. ( I negotiate multi-million dollar contracts in construction and I would have our lawyers tie Trump up so bad that he would turn down any contract with us.) Then there is his lack of knowledge of diplomacy/ We probably all agree that sometimes we want to drop an H-Bomb on a country, but common sense tells us that we can't do that. As much as I hate Hillary, I can't find any redeeming factors that would force me to say that Trump is better.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying that one candidate or the other will get my vote but I don't want to throw my vote away on a third-party candidate regardless of their platform.. It's like saying whether you want cancer or a massive heart attack with Hillary or Trump. My big fear is that the campaign is going to be so divisive it will throw the country into chaos. I can see 4 years of governmental shut downs, possible riots, and Wall Street meltdowns.

My answer was not to all facets of the discussion, true enough. But it did remedy the factual issue that Trump has put out a whole hell of a lot more of his own money and time than the Clintons or Obama ever did.

Is Hillary qualified? Sure, a Yale Law grad, US Senator, and Sec of State.

But Trump is far, far more qualified than a young community organizer, part-time law instructor with no money, no business experience, who grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii.

Trump took a 1 million loan and turned it into 5-10 billion dollars. If that were easy, we would all be billionaires, but we are not.

Look at Jimmy Carter, a submarine officer and peanut farmer and governor. Trump has far, far more business savvy and experience than Carter ever did.

JFK's book Profiles in Courage was written by a Georgetown professor. JFK's own postcards contain numerous spelling errors which would humiliate anybody with a high school diploma. But JFK had the PT 109 experience and, though he hardly ever had a job, was qualified.

What private sector job has Hillary ever done but the Rose Law Firm where she instantly got in trouble?

Trump has done business all over the world, has his own jet plane, experience with foreign laws and taxes and business climates. He makes almost all prior presidents seem unsophisticated by comparison.

Grant was a drunk. Harding was corrupt. Wilson, the president with a PhD, had some sort of wacky Weltbild and his wife ended up de facto president.

Lincoln was a railroad lawyer, a crude fellow from a log cabin who was good at wrestling. Talk about unqualified!

Teddy R, adjusted for inflation, was almost as wealthy as Trump. Why elect some unqualified poor little rich kid like him? Yet he had vigor and brains.

Jefferson, would we elect a slave-owner? Well, he was also an architect and visionary, a visionary who was qualified.

Do I wish Obama hadn't said all the dumb, divisive things he said about cops, shooting victims, red lines in the sand? Sure.

Has Trump's wife ever said she had never been proud of America in her adult lifetime? No. Did Michelle plagiarize here 2008 speech from 2 business books? Yep.

To be "qualified" is an individual -- almost solipsistic -- thing.

Hillary was paid $670,000 for one speech. What about expenses? The sponsor usually picks up expnses in a deal like this. Think of the huge entourage she has to travel with (they have to be provided for.) Think of the Secret Service detail (They have to be provided for.) Think about overnight accommodations for all of these. How about travel arraignments for all? (I'm sure they didn't fly coach.) Then there's incidentals like phone bills, food, meetings, etc., etc., etc. I'll bet $1.5 million+ would be close to the real tab.
