I'll be the first person to offer grace to someone who needs it. God knows, I hate it when I make a tiny mistake and everyone around acts like it's the end of the world.

However

When I screw up, I apologize. I make amends. I don't blame other people. I don't over promise and under deliver. I treat people with respect. When I miss a deadline, I have an answer for why, and that answer isn't always the same old marketing tripe. Etc, etc, etc.

Don't make VW out to be the victims here. They've handled this situation about as badly as humanly possible.

I run my own site and no its not a pron site. I had one of my admin get pissed and took the whole thing with him while shutting me and my other admin out. It took us over a month to get all his crap and bullshit dealt with before we could get things back up and running. My point is when someone is vindictive they can do a lot of damage. I have been a member of VW for as long as the blue **** was up and running. Cut em some slack. Again if they didnt give a shit they could have just shut the whole damn thing down and walked away. They know VW is a money pit so I am sure they are working on this as fast as they can. After all they are the ones loosing money not us..

Ok maybe it hasn't been handled in the best way. Its still extremely frustrating for anyone whos trying to get a website up and running but keeps getting shot out of the saddle. Go look at some of these other threads. Most of these people are Winnie ass cry babies and extreme drama queens for gods sake. All they do is keep string the pot. Either they are from Igors camp keeping the pot stirred over here, or just plain assholes with no patients.

No one is getting "shot out of the saddle", sir. Most people (like me) are simply pointing out the obvious glaring PR problems that VW has created for itself. Things like asking people to send passwords to a Gmail account.

I can tell you exactly the moment that my opinion started to change. It was the day that Katherine posted that people no longer needed to send in their passwords, while Ghost was still telling people to do it. It was at that point that I started getting a little critical.

So where's your threshold, sir? How many deadlines have to pass? How many posts need to be deleted? How many users need to be insulted?

As I've said before, I'm an old-school online gamer. There's a few rules from that community that VW apparantly don't get.

* Never over promise and under deliver.
* When you're going to be late, don't leave your people hanging.
* You're in PR. It's not your job to defend a position. It's your job to get beat up. Deal with it.
* Understand that some of your customers are smarter than you expect. If you treat them well, they can be your strongest advocates. Marginalize them at your own risk eg DarkJedi, Sardoz et al
*People don't care how long it takes. They care if you lie to them.
*Unify your message. At the moment, it looks like 3 people are trying to bail water out of the SS PublicRelations. And it looks like it's the same person. That's really bad.

Second off, have you actually READ anything on these boards? At no time have I attacked VW. The closest I have come was pointing out that VC does have certain legal standings based on a clearly identifiable trail of public records documents of businesses. I still believe that the current owner of VW has a better case overall, but I don't consider Igor's, or rather EB's actions to be theft, at least in regards to contributors intellectual property. I couldn't give a rat's ass about the actual business side of things, that's for them and their lawyers to deal with.

Am I crying about VW being down? No, if anyone wants to throw a meet and greet together at Cheetah's we have a fairly decent connection to each other through phone and email. Lack of porn isn't a problem.

Am I giving them time? Absolutely. Are they wasting it? Hell yes. There are tons of things they could be doing to better keep people informed.

Which brings us to the main problem. Except for a few people, mainly F&Sers, no one is causing VW problems EXCEPT VW.
