Political discussions about everything

A White House spokesman Thursday denounced comments by former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani that seemed to question President Obama's patriotism, in part by using Giuliani's own words.

"It was a horrible thing to say," said White House deputy press secretary Eric Schultz.

Giuliani, a 2008 Republican presidential candidate, used that same phrase Wednesday night to criticize Obama, Politico reported.

"I do not believe, and I know this is a horrible thing to say, but I do not believe that the president loves America," Giuliani is quoted as saying. "He doesn't love you. And he doesn't love me. He wasn't brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country."

Giuliani's comments came during a private dinner on behalf of a likely 2016 Republican president candidate, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, Politico reported: "With Walker sitting just a few seats away, Giuliani continued by saying that 'with all our flaws we're the most exceptional country in the world. I'm looking for a presidential candidate who can express that, do that and carry it out.'"

Giuliani said during a Fox News appearance Thursday that he wasn't impugning Obama's patriotism, only his comments about the United States.

"He's a patriot, I'm sure," the former mayor said. "What I'm saying is that, in his rhetoric, I very rarely hear him say the things that I used to hear Ronald Reagan say, the things I used to hear Bill Clinton say, about how much he loves America. I do hear him criticize America much more often than other American presidents."

In an interview with CNBC, Walker declined to comment about Giuliani's remarks. "The mayor can speak for himself," Walker said. "I'm not going to comment on whether — what the president thinks or not."

Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, criticized Walker's silence and chided Giuliani and his fellow Republicans. "I rarely agreed with President Bush, but I never questioned his love for our country," she said.

She recalled that in 2008, "when the ugly head of bigotry against Barack Obama reared its head, John McCain famously stood up and said, 'enough.' ... I would challenge my Republican colleagues and anyone in the Republican Party to say, 'enough.' They need to start leading."

Anyone who thinks Obama loves our Country the way it is, is an idiot, Obama wants to change it to his vision of what it should be. Even Michelle said she was never proud of the United States until it did the right thing and elected her husband. The Obama's do not love this Country.

Rudy was, of course, correct.

Michelle's remark about not ever being proud was one thing, but Barry grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii knowing fellows such as Frank Marshall Davis and Bill Ayers.

Today, Obama invites racist Al Sharpton to the White House, and racist Holder was an appointee.

Sotomayor made a sexist and racist remark which should have disqualified her, but naturally it did not.

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) proactively declined to criticize Giuliani's comment that President Obama "doesn't love America,"

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) seemed unprepared for the question and didn't really weigh in.

But another 2016 contender -- Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) -- was ready. Here's his response to local TV station WPBF (h/t to Chris Moody), according to a transcript from his office: I don’t feel like I’m in a position to have to answer for every person in my party that makes a claim. Democrats aren’t asked to answer every time Joe Biden says something embarrassing, so I don’t know why I should answer every time a Republican does. I’ll suffice it to say that I believe the President loves America; I think his ideas are bad.

Forbestardo...hands down takes the jackass of the year award for sucking down the kool aid from Rubio's waterbottle.

Many liberals absolutely couldn't stand Bush, but he certainly loved the country, I will not question that. He may have been an idiot and misguided but I'm sure that anybody who his president of the nation, unquestionably is patriot.

Now anybody who questions Obama's love of the country in such a public format, really has hit rock bottom. I don't know if Giuliani has lost his marbles or is competing with Limbaugh for flaming idiot of the year. As a New Yorker, I kind of liked Giuliani, but for someone of his stature to make such an undignified statement, will mean he has lost the respect of many people and certainly he will not be taken seriously.

What a shame...

Rudy is not going to be President...... or anything else in the next administration, for that matter......he knows that. And really that's too bad. Because here's a man who loves his country......he said what many of us have known for a long time......he said it publicly to lets us know we are not alone....and doing so took one for the team.

Rudy was actually a bit gentle.

Predictably, the White House released some sanctimonious nonsense about not questioning Obama's patriotism.

But why did Obama hang out with Frank Marshall Davis, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, and Al Sharpton?

Wasn't it because he agreed with their anti-American views?
