GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Hamas rejected an Egyptian proposal for a cease-fire with Israel that was to take effect Tuesday, saying Cairo did not consult the group over the deal. Israel accepted the truce plan, but warned it would strike Gaza hard if Hamas didn't abide by it.

Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev warned that Israel would strike Gaza even harder if Hamas does not accept the truce.

"If Hamas rejects the Egyptian proposal, if Hamas continues to shoot rockets at Israeli cities, we are prepared to continue our military operation and intensify it as needed to protect our people," he said.

Hamas from Gaza fired five rockets at Israel, shortly after the Egyptian-proposed starting time.

Over the past week, Israel has carried out hundreds of air strikes against targets in Gaza to try to diminish Hamas' ability to fire rockets at Israel.

What I don't understand is why hasn't our military moved in carriers to help Israel fight the terrorist bombing Israeli citizens. We don't have to boots on the ground, let Israel do that when it's time, we could be providing ton's of air support, it would also give an opportunity to test out our new bunker busters. Every time a missile is launched from Gaza, we should be taking out the city block the missile was launched from. Why are these terrorists off limits for Obama?

Obama today said Palestinians must stop sending missiles in into civilian targets if they expect Israel to stand down, no mention of the U.S. helping Israel fight the terrorists.
