ON CNN...Mario Hernandez, a Viet Nam vet, was brought here illegally at the age of 9 by his parents. Now, the US is saying they want to deport him because he is illegal. This is the US saying, "Thanks for your service Mario, now get the hell out of here."

I've said on this board before that politics is much more complicated than most here believe. This is a perfect example of that. Mario IS an illegal alien. BUT, he served this country with distiction when many his age were refusing to serve. Some were even leaving the country to avoid service to the country. I think that our "leaders" should rethink this deportation action.

There are many crazy aspects of this sort of scenario, and the first is that any illegal immigrant can be in our armed forces.

Second, I think anybody who has served for a few years and can speak basic English should be handed his citizenship along with his honorable discharge.

This guy is not some fucking war hero who deserves special treatment. He's already received that with his parole, bullshit jobs in the Army, and his civil service jobs. He knew damn well what he was doing, he lied and he cheated. He broke the law. He's a criminal. Put his ass in jail.

Only one problem with his claim that he was in Viet Nam

In 1975, he believed he'd become a citizen when he was sworn into the Army

The Vietnam War ended on April 30th, 1975 all troops were leaving, so unless Hernandez joined in Jan 1975 and skipped all military training a new recruit would go through there is no way he touched foot in Viet Nam. That aside the only reason ICE is harassing him while letting convicted criminal illegals out on our streets is that Hernandez is he's from CUBA and is a conservative, not a liberal from Mexico. Cubans tend to be the only Hispanics who vote Republican they are deported when caught here illegally. Obama has released 36,000 illegals with criminal records onto our streets, none of them from Cuba, Cuban's are in uproar they are being singled out for special treatment because of their conservative values.

He's playing the Vietnam "era", he was never in Vietnam, the war was over when he joined in August 75. That's besides the point, if Obama forces this man to leave after serving in our military every damn illegal should also be deported, hell Obama is freeing criminal illegals. The real reason ICE is after him is because he's Cuban and conservative not dependent on hand outs = votes Republican.

Cuban Americans Lean Republican, Other Latinos to the Left, Poll Shows. Unlike the majority of Latinos, who tend to lean liberal and vote Democratic, Cuban Americans seem to move in the opposite direction politically.Only 30 percent of the Cuban Americans polled said they were Democrats.

Cuban-American conservatism is strongly rooted in the anti-Castro sentiments stemming from the 1959 revolution, the botched Bay of Pigs invasion during the Kennedy administration and Republican support for the U.S. embargo against trade with Cuba. The sentiments only strengthened as Fidel Castro kept power for decades and an influential group of Cuban-American politicians –particularly in Miami– became entrenched in the Republican Party.

In 2000, when then Attorney General Janet Reno decided to forcibly remove Elian Gonzalez from his family’s Miami home, it only exacerbated Cubans’ distrust of the Democratic Party. Cubans were largely against returning Elian, who was found clinging to an inner tube along the shores of Miami, to his father in Communist Cuba.

Besides their ardent anti-Castroism, Cuban Americans have also tended to side with the Republican Party on fiscal and social matters. They've seen or heard about first hand what happens when families rely on big government and entitlements to survive, quality of life suffers.

ICE is just doing the same thing the IRS did, targeting conservatives, this man is a prime example of how a corrupt government works, harass good hard working people who think different than they do while rewarding those who agree with their policies and kneel to the government.
