People had to spend hours setting up barricades where there are never barricades to prevent people from seeing the World War II monument because they’re trying to play a charade,” Rand (R-Ky.) said Tuesday.

"The head of the National Park Service acknowledge that it's costing far more to set up barricades and add additional security keeping people out of the normally open area but said his request to allow it remain open was denied directly by the White House. He said he was ordered to block it off and was authorized additional assets to do so".

A new wave of veterans were forced to move barricades at the WWII Memorial in Washington Wednesday morning to gain access during the government slimdown, a spokeswoman from Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., told FoxNews.com.

The WWII veterans, from Ohio, Kansas and Missouri, arrived at the memorial one day after another group relied on the assistance from elected officials to move the barricades to allow access. Through October, there are over 35,000 WWII veterans scheduled to visit the site, more than 900 in the next five days alone as part of year long plan.

The White House rejected a request from Rep. Steven Palazzo’s office to allow the World War II veterans visit the World War II memorial in Washington as planned, the Mississippi Republican told The Daily Caller Tuesday. Obama told Palazzo there would be no discussions until the budget was passed in full as submitted by the Senate.

Democrats in the House on Tuesday night rejected three appropriations resolutions that would have funded the District of Columbia, veterans programs and national parks. "These piecemeal efforts are not serious, and they are no way to run a government, It's everything or nothing." White House spokeswoman Amy Brundage said.

It is a violation of the First Amendment to close the WW II memorial.

Memorials are places which must remain open for remembrance, for prayer for those who pray, for somber meditation for others.

The Park Service admitted today, they are spending far more keeping people out and have had to triple staff to keep them out rather than just letting people walk through.
