Political discussions about everything
#135992
"On Tuesday, State Sen. Blaise Ingoglia (R-11th district) filed SB 1248, gloriously titled “The Ultimate Cancel Act,” which, in its ultra-sanitized summary, would call on the state of Florida to “immediately cancel the filings of a political party if certain conditions exist; requiring the division to follow a certain procedure; requiring the division to provide a specified notice to certain voters; authorizing a canceled political party to reregister with the Department of State; providing procedures for an organization to reregister as a political party.”

Sounds fair enough, right? But that’s before the fun begins. Later on, in the bill’s text, we learn that SB 1248 would ask the state to “immediately cancel the filings of a political party, to include its registration and approved status as a political party, if the party’s platform has previously advocated for, or been in support of, slavery or involuntary servitude.”

Southern Democrats advocated for slavery during the Civil War.” I would add that plenty of Northern Democrats also thought slavery was just dreamy back in the day, too.

Naturally, it would be a stretch to believe that the Ultimate Cancel Act would have a snowball’s chance in Florida of passing. But Ingoglia intends to make a point with the legislation.

“For years now, leftist activists have been trying to ‘cancel’ people and companies for things they have said or done in the past,” he said in a statement.

“This includes the removal of statues and memorials and the renaming of buildings. Using this standard, it would be hypocritical not to cancel the Democrat Party itself for the same reason.”

"... in the bill’s text, we learn that SB 1248 would ask the state to “immediately cancel the filings of a political party, to include its registration and approved status as a political party, if the party’s platform has previously advocated for, or been in support of, slavery or involuntary servitude.”-johnny's nonsense

I hope it passes. It will immediately do away with the Republicans Party which all around the country is passing laws that require involuntary servitude as part of their hypocritical "Right to Life" bullshit they are forcing on women against their will, and against the will of 61% of Americans who think abortion should be legal.

I figures that johnforbes would be here spreading hypocritical and unAmerican Republican propaganda. It's what he does.

johnny, this has nothing to do with "leftist decisions" or polls. No one needs to argue contraception or abortion or gay marriage to realize you're an idiot. Your thread is about slavery and involuntary servitude. (Don't you ever read the crap your handlers slop into your trough?)

The 13th Amendment IS in the Constitution, dimwit, and it outlaws involuntary servitude (which is what the Republican proposal and this thread is all about.)

The government forcing women at the barrel of a gun to be incubators for the state is inarguably involuntary servitude, and it is only the Republicans who are passing laws to force this inhuman policy on America. The fact that the women wouldn't do it if the government wasn't forcing them to do it is the very definition of involuntary servitude.

Stop with your idiotic distractions about "polls" and "leftist decisions" which are irrelevant to the topic. You only pull out that bullshit when you know you have been beaten by the facts and reason.

It is about the Constitution, which is there in black and white for anyone who can read. (I realize this leaves you out, but have the neighbor child read it to you.)

As you must appreciate, Mr Forbes has days jammed with appointments.

He would like to read each and every one of Clowntroller's vapid maunders, but:

"At my back I always hear
Time’s wingèd chariot hurrying near;
And yonder all before us lie
Deserts of vast eternity..."

For this reason, the esteemed Forbes must focus his efforts on the most productive endeavors as he considere the maelstrom of postings seeking to be graced with his attention.
#136007
^^^^^^ See? johnforbes realizes that he has no argument to bring against the obvious involuntary servitude Republicans are forcing on women and which he tacitly supports by refusing to condemn it.

So he scurries away like the partisan weasel he is, desperately trying to distract from his pathetic intellectual impotence.

As always, johnny has failed with his adolescent distractions. Everyone still sees quite clearly that johnforbes has nothin'.

Involuntary servitude?

Whatever form of "angel dust" Clowntoker is tripping on these days, we have had over a half century of the Warren Court and subsequent ones simply making things up.

You can look all day long at the Constitution and not find anything about contraception, gay marriage, abortion, or Miranda-type "rights."

Cases like Gideon, Escobedo, and many others were just leftists inventing things.
#136016
Yes, "involuntary servitude" dimwit.

That is what it is, literally and legally, when the government tells you what you must do at the barrel of a gun, threatening to put you in jail or even put you to death (as some Republicans are now proposing in state legislatures) for not submitting to being a incubator for the government and incurring all the greater financial and more serious health risks of carrying a pregnancy to term, not to mention forcing a woman to take on all the years of expense and difficulties imposed on an unwilling parent.

What sort of legal angel dust is johnforbes on that he doesn't see the "involuntary servitude" aspect of the government threatening to imprison or kill a woman for failing to provide the use of her body on demand for at least nine months (and actually more like 18 years) if she doesn't submit to doing what they tell her to do against her will?

Stop with your silly, irrelevant diversions about things "not found in the Constitution" when "involuntary servitude" is expressly articulated in so many words in the Constitution.
#136023
johnny, grow a pair and take a side on this inhuman treatment of women by Republicans.

If you support forcing women to be government incubators, just say so. You must know if you support this evil.

If you don't support such involuntary servitude and actually support the Constitution, then say so.

It isn't that hard to stand up to the hypocritical, book-banning, anti-parental-rights, authoritarians in the Republican Party. The more you think about women's right to control their own bodies, the simpler the issue becomes. You expect to control your own body. Women have the same right you demand for yourself.

As for the fake conservative hypocrites, not a one of them can think rationally on the issue. I imagine that that is the difficulty you yourself face.
#136027
There has been no shortage of issues upon which Mr Forbes and Mr Clown R. Troller have disagreed during the 79 years this fine forum has graced the Worldwide Interwebs.

Mr Forbes does not swing at every pitch.

Nor does he make a pitch for every swinger.
#136030
Unsurprisingly, johnforbes can't even state that he supports the Constitution.

That's worse than the two dozen Republican House members who refused to sign a statement denouncing white supremacy.

I guess it's understandable. Who would donate money to their campaigns if they denounced their entire voter base?
#136064
Well, the religious nuts in Idaho are starting to pay the price for their inhuman and hypocritical anti-abortion laws.

Soon conservatives won't be able to give birth in the safety of a hospital any longer because the labor and delivery services will have all been shut down since doctors are refusing to take part in the horrors of untrained Right Wing clowns taking over complex medical decisions from women and doctors.

The 'cancellation' of the Republican Party can't come too soon, at least for pregnant women.

My grandfather was born at home, and -- other than him being handsome, smart, and successful -- it didn't slow him down much.

As for Mr Forbes himself, well we all know that he was born the next of kin -- the next of kin to the wayward wind.

In a lonely shack by a railroad track, he spent his younger days.

And I guess the sound of the outward bound made him a slave to his wandering ways.
#136089
I hate to see McConnell described as "corrupt scum."

To be fair, isnt he somewhat worse than that?

McConnell was among the 18 RINOs who voted for the inflationary 1.7 trillion omnibus which, inter alia, sent another 45 billion into the sinkhole of Ukraine's corruption while leaving America's own border wide open.
#136093
"...the inflationary 1.7 trillion omnibus which, inter alia, sent another 45 billion into the sinkhole of Ukraine's corruption..."-johnfoibles

So you don't think the lives of thousands of American troops are worth $45 billion?

Why do you hate our troops so much, johnny?
#136097
So you DON'T think the lives of thousands of American troops are worth $45 billion.

Got it.

You're also revealing you get your partisan news from your handlers at FOXnews when you repeat your mindless and meaningless characterization of "the sinkhole of Ukraine's corruption." The same could just as easily be said of "the sinkhole of U.S. corruption" where Republicans waste billions on weapons systems our own military no longer want and can't use. At least Ukraine is using the badly needed weapons to fight Russian aggression so our troops don't have to.

But since you clearly would prefer our troops die instead, no one cares about your phony partisan opinion on this subject.
#136131
"The lives of American soldiers have nothing to do with tossing another 45 billion into the most corrupt country in Europe, which is Ukraine."-Dishonestjohn

Of course it does, dummy. If we weren't supporting Ukraine with arms, just about every Russia expert in the world believes Putin would now be Poland.

And that would mean American soldiers dying on the battlefield, dimwit.

As it is, not a single American soldier had died to stop Putin's aggression.
