In the recent past, southern California has received more rain than usual, refilling reservoirs, but at the same time leading to increased growth of plants that when they dry out become tinder for wildfires. And this year the La Nina phenomenon off South America is late in arriving, keeping southern California dryer than usual, even as northern California has had increased rains.

If Republicans would get on board with the rest of the world we might be able to do something about these cycles to make them more like normal historical patterns.

Meanwhile, leave it to sillydummy to make a contribution to the discussion that has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the wildfires in California. The Mayor's location at any given time has nothing to do with the ecological damage caused by Republicans. And as soon as Trump takes over, what will he do? He will once again withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Agreement and ensure that the damage to the world's climate speeds up even more, making things even worse as Republicans cheer about it. Then they will ask the Federal Government to foot the bill for their lost homes and property, all the while whining about the growth of the National Debt.

To respond to johnforbes illogical post, there is a fact-based way to ascertain the efficiency of johnforbes' purely partisan 'thinking' just as there are a few fact-based ways to ascertain whether johnforbes is making up stupid shit.

First, johnforbes claimed that the Mayor was in Africa when the fires started. Now he claims that the Mayor was in LA making budget proposals the day before the fires started. Both things cannot be true. One of these convenient partisan 'facts' is made up stupid shit. johnforbes is simply flailing about searching for the lie of the day that he hopes no on will notice as he makes up more stupid shit to argue his baseless partisan case.

Second, the LA Fire Department has no control over the filling of reservoirs. The state of the reservoirs has nothing to do with the "efficiency" of either the fire department nor the lesbian running it, so blaming the shortage of water or the state of the reservoirs on lesbians in the fire department is moronic, even by the johnforbes standard of being a moron.

The water department is responsible for filling the empty reservoir (not "reservoirs" dimwit) which had been empty for nearly a year undergoing necessary repairs (long before this year's extreme weather conditions were known.) The reservoir had to be drained to determine the extent of the repairs needed. It turned out the reservoir was in worse condition than previously thought so repairs are taking longer than expected. This is also not the fault of the lesbian running the LA Fire Department nor the Mayor since repairs are proceeding as procedure requires.

Third, even if the reservoir had been refilled (which was probably not possible) this would have only delayed the inevitable. When that water ran out, the fire would have continued on its way across the city.
