I have been recently and I highly recommend going there! It is what you would expect of a resort of this type: relaxing with the ever present sexual tension hanging in the air. The thing about Desire is that when the timing works and the people are right, the relaxing atmosphere gets turned on its head and becomes downright erotic and even lustful. But first let's talk about the resort itself.
The overall look is very tropical and high class. You are welcomed into a serene foyer and greeted by the staff. The resort representative gives you the rules, layout and itinerary. You walk out into the courtyard and notice a nice bar on the left where you are handed the drink of your choice (all inclusive, including any alcoholic drinks). Then you are escorted to your room, which in our case wasn't the most spacious but it worked (we got the Garden view). The room itself was good, but the bathroom was really small.
The beach is beautiful. There are about 20 canopy beds right on the shore, and we were able to nap in them a few days. You have to sign up for one though (no charge), and it is first come first serve, so I got up early those days to get one. Well worth it.
The pool is very nice and always the center of the activity during the day. Guests lounge about mostly during the morning and early afternoon, and the staff does a good job at engaging the crowd in fun game every few hours. Beach volleyball was fun, and you can wear as little or as much as you like. In fact, the overall service of the staff was excellent. Very attentive and courteous.
The food was surprisingly very well done; we ate everything from the breakfast to dinner buffets to the 4 on site restaurants. You have to make reservations the day of, if you want to eat at a restaurant. The quality was top notch and better than we anticipated with it being an all inclusive resort.
The people you run into are what makes it pretty amazing. You find a wide variety of couples from those that are nudists, to couples who are very interested in sexual play with others, to couples that stay fully clothed and are there because it is adult only. Some people we met were curious about swinging and were there to possibly explore for the first time. The one thing we noticed was that everyone was very friendly and respectful, no matter who we talked to. No expectations or insinuations were projected on us. It was overall a very fun and laid back environment, which is what we were hoping for.
The hot tub is located up on a roof top overlooking the pool/beach but in the late afternoon to late evening is definitely where the party is at. It is fairly large and C-shaped and you can swim right up to one side of the tiki bar which is nice. Again you will find people in various stages of dress (mostly undress). We would go there before dinner for a little while, and that was where great conversations were had. After dinner it was off to get ready for the themed party that night! Every night was a different theme, and about half of the people we noticed would dress up, but it's fine either way. The club itself is rather small, and interestingly there is a unisex restroom. Tucked away into a corner is a door that opens to a very dim lit room called the Sin Room, where couples can play. It was a narrow room and very dark, but you could hear better than you could see! A sex swing and comfortable beds/couches adorned the sin room
We would then go back to the room or straight to the spa upstairs where most of the crowd seemed to gather. Lots of fun and you can take it as far as you would like. There is row of canopy beds on the other side of the spa where you will usually find some action going on, especially late at night. Note: (no sexual play on the beach or pool area)
There are many more details but this is the overview - I haven't been to any other resort of this type so I cannot compare. But it was well worth the price in my opinion!
