Katherine asked what we would want her to be doing as PR director toward getting the site back up, since she can't help out with coding. Clearly that isn't her job (and I haven't seen anyone suggest it, DarkJedi), but here are some things that might be higher priorities than party planning.
For three days, the front page has been promising "some new exciting news later on today!" That news was announced on Thursday. Something a little more enlightening and informative than this, or at least up-to-date, would be helpful at this point.
People are aware of the 4-7 day promise. Counting from Sunday, that should be today. Providing "updates ... at every step of the way" might usefully include letting us know if there is going to be further delay and why it is proving more difficult than expected. I'm not saying the delay is unreasonable, but silence on the issue is not reassuring.
Aside from offers to arrange a conference call with the owner, I haven't seen any real signs of improved transparency with regard to how this operation is/was really structured and owned. DarkJedi has provided some interesting and potentially reassuring bits of researched information about the ownership structure and scope of the company. What harm would it do to confirm and elaborate a bit on those? At the moment, Igor's account stands largely unchallenged and people are understandably skeptical as to whether VW has the resources and or technical expertise to resurrect the site.
Again, I am not trying to stir up trouble, nor am I an "outsider." I am a concerned member/contributor whose copyrighted property was stolen by Igor on his way out the (apparently wide open) door, looking for reasons to believe that the new management will do better.
