Dang Jess,

I was listing to both of those last night! Excellent choices!

On another note, I finally got my U2 download figured out. The iTunes **** icon was really hard to find for some reason for me. :?:

I'll get off to bed with one from Metric, it's been on my play list a lot lately......

Love me on the Sly..... Shaw's guitar work is the energy in this song but Haines voice and lyrics stitch all up tight.

So I noticed the new U2 album on my iPhone last night... finally. I guess the roll out of 800 million free downloads was spaced out a bit by iTunes.

By way of a short review: It's pure U2.

I haven't listened to the entire album yet, but what I've heard so far is exactly what I'd expect from U2... more of the same music they've been putting out for the last decade or so. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? It just depends how much you've liked their last few albums, really.

Personally I liked 90s U2 more than 2000s U2... but it's still solid, nevertheless.

It is!

I got it the first night it was out. I think it will pan out to be a favorite for me, at least a few tracks.

Lyrics...

"Don't Talk To Strangers"

She was a bottle blond,
She had her 7's on.
When I think about it now,
Just a cougar on the prowl.
She was hotter than hell,
Had me under a spell.
Got that ass doin' yoga,
Didn't care that she's older.

Got off the stage,
Ended up at her place.
We were burning up the bed,
Fire needed to be fed.
Mornin' sun hit her face,
Maggie May showed her age.
And I remember what my Mama said,

Don't talk to strangers,
Don't do all your thinking with your little head.
Like mama said, just like mama said,
My mama said.
Don't talk to strangers,
Just wrap it up so you don't wind up dead,
Like mama said, just like Mama said,
My mama said.

She likes 'em nice and young,
She likes 'em fresh and hungry.
With fire in her eyes,
Lets you try her on for size.
Show you a trick or two,
To teach you something new.
Full of Bacardi and botox,
Shes forty and so hot.

The light of the day,
Had somethin' different to say.
My head started to spin,
When I saw her son walkin' in.
I'll bet he felt like a fool,
Cuz I knew him from school.
And I remember what my mama said.

Don't talk to strangers,
Don't do all your thinking with your little head.
Like mama said, just like mama said,
My mama said.
Don't talk to strangers,
Just wrap it up so you don't wind up dead.
Like mama said, just like Mama said,
My mama said.

Hey pretty lady it's crazy,
You're almost twice my age.
I wanna dance on your body,
The way I shake it on stage.

Hey pretty lady it's crazy,
You're almost twice my age.
I wanna dance on your body,
The way I shake it on stage.

Hey pretty lady it's crazy,
You're almost twice my age.
I wanna dance on your body,
The way I shake it on stage.

Hey pretty lady it's crazy,
You're almost twice my age.
I wanna dance on your body,

"Cha-Ching"

It started on the Real World
A hot tub full of hot girls
Grindin' every frat boy and freak

Line up all the idols
Who paint on phony smiles
Tryin' to ride the fast track for free

Who's the biggest loser?
I'll bust the biggest boozer
Bigger ratings for MTV

And all the sole survivors
Still stranded on the island
Lyin' through their teeth for money

[Chorus]
So everybody dance, and everybody sing
If you wanna go far, if you wanna be a star
Yeah we can swing it
CHA-CHING!
When you take off all your clothes
When you strike a Playboy pose
If you wanna go far, if you wanna be a star
Then you gotta bring it
CHA-CHING!

Everybody stop and stare
Kardashian's ass is everywhere
If you missed it, watch TMZ

Pretendin' to be lesbians
And Tila's payin' all of them
While Flava Flave gets fucked up for free

Guess whose grinnin' living large
It's Mini Me, the porn star
Google it, I think you'll agree

And all the hotties on the hills
Just gettin' rich and making deals
While you and I are watchin' TV

[Chorus]
So everybody dance, and everybody sing
If you wanna go far, if you wanna be a star
Yeah we can swing it
CHA-CHING!
When you take off all your clothes
When you strike a Playboy pose
If you wanna go far, if you wanna be a star
Then you gotta bring it
CHA-CHING!

(Turn it on)
The All American Dream is gettin' 15 for free
(Turn it on)
The All American Dream is so skin deep

It started on the real world
A hot tub full of hot girls
Grindin' every frat boy and freak

[Chorus 2x]
So everybody dance, and everybody sing
If you wanna go far, if you wanna be a star
Yeah we can swing it
CHA-CHING!
When you take off all your clothes
When you strike a Playboy pose
If you wanna go far, if you wanna be a star
Then you gotta bring it
CHA-CHING!

So hurry, turn it on, turn it on, get your 15 minutes
15's almost gone, turn it on, turn it on
(CHA-CHING!)
So hurry, turn it on, turn it on, get your 15 minutes
15's almost gone, turn it on, turn it on

A short one for tonight...

Classical Trancelations by Lowland

I found this album by accident on iTunes a few years ago while looking around for a particular EDM song by BT. I never did find a single version of it, but I did discover Lowland.

In short... this Finnish producer took a selection of top trance songs from the late 90s and early 2000s (when trance was at it's absolute best) and redid them as fully orchestral arrangements. It's a little hard to imagine... better just to listen.

Flaming June by BT, one of the absolute best trance songs ever (in my opinion... though I almost choked when I realized it came out 17 years ago  ) redone in a way I don't think anyone but Lowland could have imagined: Flaming June. The hook on this one is the similarity of the two via their connection through the piano.

Another great song of that era of trance was Children by Robert Miles. (Honestly, the entire Dreamland CD is brilliant work, a perfect audio photograph of that period of electronica.) Children was a signature set-ending, chill-out song to calm down the rave crowd before driving home... (post-rave car accidents were an almost weekly occurrence throughout Europe at that time).

The Lowland version: Children

Even your grandmother would approve.

Would I add Classical Trancelations to my deserted island CD stack?

Depends. Am I on this island alone? If so, probably not... I wouldn't really need anything quite so relaxing.

Am I on this island with a very gorgeous lady who would be inclined to lay at my side, next to a fire each night and stare up at the galaxy until we fall asleep in each others arms? If so, then Classical Trancelations would definitely be on my list! :D

The full album can be hear HERE. There isn't one track on it that doesn't deliver. Each track is a beautiful piece of aural art. I couldn't tell you how many times I've just put it on and fallen asleep listening to it... pure audio bliss.

Fast, I downloaded the Classical Trancelations yesterday and I LOVED it! Have to say you've excellent taste in music ;)

I listened to it while on my balcony with a glass of wine and lightning in the far distance - perfect.
#46767
That sounds like a wonderful way to finish an evening. :)

Classical Trancelations is brilliantly unique, isn't it? For an album I pretty much found by accident it's basically my #1 go-to music any time I need to just unwind. I can't listen to it while driving though... I tend to lose focus if I do. :? Other than that though, perfect. On a flight, after a frustrating day at the office, quiet evening home alone... whatever, it works.

Fast, yep it's a gem. And it's exactly the kind of music I have been searching for lately.

Thumps, Pink as a person and artist is pretty damn cool; my favorite of her's is "Who Knew". I sang that song at karaoke one night some years ago

Muppets and Weezer go so well together.....

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
#46798
The great thing about the Muppets is that they kinda' go good together with everything.

Come to think of it, Weezer goes pretty good with other things as well...

Weezer + Happy Days

Weezer + Sumo Wrestlers

Weezer + shoddily made knitwear...

Weezer + cute baby animals in an idyllic setting.

Weezer + Elisha Cuthbert

Weezer + Bunnies at the mansion!

Weezer's blue album is an absolute classic. It might even be on my "deserted island" list... but maybe more for the memories of a misspent summer than for it's outright musical importance. Pretty much any memory of the latter half of my teenage years will almost inevitably have a song from that album tied to it. Summers at the cottage, partying with friends, late nights out, early mornings... still out... friends basements, pool parties. Hell, even my wedding (which was pretty much the only good part of that marriage) was an awesome party and as the night wore on I gave the DJ a half hour off to get something to drink and hang out with a girl he had his eye on for a while, ran outside to get some of my own CDs from the car, and played the Sweater Song as loud as it would go! I think we all lost our voices singing along with that as loud as we could go!
#46813
They're great in concert too. I went to see them in the early 2000s I think and while Rivers is a relatively uncharismatic guy (for a frontman, he's actually really dull.... he can play and he can sing... don't ask for much else) they still rocked the arena hard. And despite having 3 albums outs at that point they still played more from the blue album than any other. I think that no matter what they do, that album will always be the reason their core fans show up.
#46826
Hmmmmm....I'm pretty sure I've seen that Devil Goes Down to Jamaica vid before...I wonder where? :D :D :D

Unlike most of what I've been posting... here's something relatively new:

Black Out Days by Phantogram

I literally just heard this group on the radio for the first time a couple of weeks ago. A little Googling was in order... the song is the most recent single off their second album "Voices".

However, the previous single - Fall In Love - is even better, to me at least. I love the mix of sounds and beats they've put into it... there's a great lack of a pattern. (I can't think of a better way to explain the sound.)

Their first album was a lot softer though. I've listened to some samples of it, and it didn't hook me right away the way "Black Out Days" or "Fall In Love" did. However, it's probably really nice to play as background music in a more chilled out milieu.
#46910
I should have mentioned... don't watch the "Fall In Love" video if you happen to be prone to seizures.

Also, I love her style (leather and mesh, what's not to love?)... and I love the way she feels the music when performing live: Fall In Love (Live)

Spent more time at work today listening to music on YouTube than actually working... discovered that The Pretty Reckless do some great covers during their live shows!

Seven Nation Army (One of my fave White Stripes songs.)

Aerials (System of a Down)

Like a Stone (Audioslave cover... IMO, not as good. The recording isn't great to begin with... but Chris Cornell sounds so distinctive that the cover doesn't really seem to work.)

Champagne Supernova (Better than the original... but I was never a big Oasis fan to begin with.)

They're in town in November... I wanna' go. Anyone coming?

So, checked the Reckless tour and it doesn't look like they'll be coming near me, I guess I'll have to travel then! I still like that dress though, I am not sure about the taped nipples on that second one.

I have this itch to go again but don't see anyone on tour I really want to see. I'd go as far as St Augustine or Jax or Orlando.

I wish U2 would tour again, I loved their last tour, that was a great concert too.

Probably a legal thing... the shows are officially "all ages" (seriously? Who would bring a kid to see The Pretty Reckless?!?) but if there are any under-18s in the audience she'd get crap if a nipple did make an appearance.

Yeah me too... been ages since I went to a concert. I've been trolling through the evenko site calendar page just hoping to find something to go see. One group I desperately want to see is here on a weekend I'm working out of town, so that sucks. I'm considering heading somewhere else to see them though. Maybe fly down to Boston for a quick weekend away. Dunno' yet.

Argh... don't start me on U2. I've missed their concerts here so many times. :( Always one reason or another, but literally every time they've been in town hasn't worked out for me.

We used to have a great little embedded link with all the home coding in it. Igor cost us that too.

See I made a link to Dilbert
Try this,

Making a text Link only:

what word you want to use goes here

It's a bit of extra work but pretty easy.
#47554
To clarify, move the link into the first bracket after an equal sign. The use the space between the bracket for the description. I just RE read and wasn't sure it was clear enough.

Like this:

Abook by a distant relation... One Honora might like?

Does that help?

rockclimber wrote:We used to have a great little embedded link with all the home coding in it. Igor cost us that too.
I think that was removed from the phpBB forum code a while ago. I know a few forums that had that button but no longer do. It depends which version of the software one has. vBulletin still has the feature... when you click the URL button it first pops up a box where you paste the URL and then a second box where you type the words you want to use to create the link. XenForo, which is the newest and basically most advanced forum software out there now, doesn't have that feature... dunno' why. :|
#47587
We used to have a small link at the bottom of the page to several useful links. One of the three was a page of cheats on code to use for different things.

Then we lost the site thanks to Igor deleting the entire code. Exactly what he did I believe was delete all the passwords and log in.

Fortunately there was a fragmented back up on an old server, or so I am told. Anyway this is a whole new Forum BB style.

Luckily this worked for Honora. Which reminds me of something I've been meaning to do. After work though lol.

Depeche Mode - Corrupt

Why this song was never released as a single I have no idea... it is so damned good! And if someone ever made a video for it?
I could corrupt you
In a heartbeat
You think you're so special
Think you're so sweet

But what are you trying
Don't even tempt me
Soon you'll be crying
And wishing you'd dreamt me

You'll be calling out my name
When you need someone to blame

I could corrupt you
It would be easy
Watching you suffer
Girl, it would please me

But I wouldn't touch you
With my little finger
I know it would crush you
My memory would linger

You'd be crying out in pain
Begging me to play my games

I could corrupt you
It would be ugly
They could sedate you
But what good would drugs be?

I wouldn't touch you
Put my hands on your hips
It would be too much to
Place my lips on your lips

You'd be calling out my name
Begging me to play my games
